About this listen
As a special operations army commander, Jeff Tiegs anchored his life in the battlefield—and the Bible. He joined the 1st Ranger Battalion at age eighteen and retired as a Delta Force lieutenant colonel. Often separated from his wife and kids, Tiegs lost friends in combat but never stopped pursuing his enemies wherever they tried to hide.
What has kept him going, what guides him still, are stories — of David, the slingshot sniper who downed a giant, of a pregnant virgin bride, a rogue prophet, a betrayed liberator. To Tiegs, these ancient tales echo within every human story. He has followed them through holy lands and combat zones where he collected a few stories of his own.
In Where Have All the Heroes Gone?, Tiegs retells familiar Bible stories through the lens of a trained warrior. He weaves personal experiences and military exploits among the threads, inviting listeners to take their own pilgrimage through the front lines of faith.

There is a war on masculinity, and everywhere we look—on every front we hold sacred—we can see the painful reminders of this collapsing order. The chaos and crisis we are experiencing today should be a signal for men everywhere to rise up; to fight to preserve our way of life by once again walking the ancient paths. Story
The U.S./Mexican border stretches nearly 2,000 miles and is protected by a thin line of overworked and underfunded U.S. Border Patrol Agents, who risk their lives every day. Stigmatized in the media and fought over in the halls of Washington D.C., this is the true story of what is really happening on the U.S./Mexican border. Borderline provides an inside look through the eyes of former U.S. Border Patrol agent, Vincent Vargas, who is no stranger to violence, having served in Iraq and Afghanistan with the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment.

Victor Marx believes politicians aren't going to save people, neither are law enforcement or public schools. Instead, he advocates for restoration of the family unit as God intended, led by fathers and a generation of dangerous gentlemen who believe without courage all other virtues fail.

On his last combat deployment, Lt. Cmdr. James Reece's entire team was killed in an ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them. But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government. Now, with no family and free from the military's command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he's learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward revenge.

Tom is a legend even among other Tier One special operators. Yet the enemy that cost him three marriages, and ruined his health physically and psychologically, existed in his brain. Told through Satterly's firsthand experiences, it also weaves in the reasons for his career-long battle against the most insidious enemy of all: post-traumatic stress.

Shannon served as a Navy cryptologic technician, responsible for signals intelligence and electronic warfare, but her proficiency with language set her apart. She was assigned to a unit so secretive that its name can’t even be printed here, where she worked clandestinely to hunt the most wanted terrorists in the world.

Story
In January of 2019, I was trapped in a hotel room in the DusitD2 in Nairobi for 17 long hours while Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked the property. I was completely alone, and certain I was going to die. However, thanks to the incomprehensibly brave men who fought to get us out, hundreds of us were extracted to safety. After the attack, though, PTSD made me so miserable that I started to wish I had died after all. This book is the in-depth retelling of the attack, combined with my personal journal entries about PTSD afterward. It's a true story about trauma.

In the predawn hours of March 4, 2002, just below the 10,000-foot peak of a mountain in eastern Afghanistan, a fierce battle raged. Outnumbered by Al Qaeda fighters, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and a handful of SEALs struggled to take the summit in a desperate bid to find a lost teammate. Chapman, leading the charge, was gravely wounded in the initial assault. Believing he was dead, his SEAL leader ordered a retreat. Chapman regained consciousness, alone with the enemy closing in on three sides, beginning the most difficult and exceptional fight of his life.

The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Stories of Parallel
I learned so much from this book! Jeff’s war stories paralleled many Bible stories and, as a prior Ranger, I found it funny, enlightening, heartbreaking and eye opening in many ways. But what was most poignant were his connections and travels to the Bible and Holy Land— making intimate connections to the text, terrain and humanity of Christ Jesus- particularly YHWH! Must read!

“Let the redeemed of the LORD tell their story” Psalm 107:2
Courage equal to that summoned and realized in these war stories were required by the author to write this amazing work. I know him, we used to drive in to work together, and now I know him much better. This is a lifetime’s work, carefully and artfully structured to benefit the audience; then entertain.
Boss asked a question, and since I began reading a couple of weeks ago, I’ve gifted this book to close friends, my wife, daughter, and twin sons. I know they will answer his question with their lives, we all will, we all are. Our common vocation of seeking God through shared struggle becomes easier as we relate naturally through story telling. This is how God has designed us. We must try to answer this question aloud and unafraid.
