Nice Story, best part is the characters!

What a super fun, low-angst, read! When the Bough Breaks is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone.

This is only the second chance I've had to read a story by Aria Grace and I highly recommend that book as well (Winter Chill). Both these stories start with a traditional theme, but where Grace takes them is when it gets interesting.

There's a very creative spin thrown into this one which kept me guessing, not on how it would end, but on how we would get there. The journey was 100% fun and once I started this book I really didn't want to put it down.

The characters are straightforward but complex and the relationships between the men grow steadily throughout the story. This is MMM, one of my favorites because I love all the different ways three men can interact, and how they relate to each other as couples as well. Chad and AJ have great chemistry and it's no surprise how that one's going to work out, but when Sawyer gets added in... Freakin'.Smoking.Hot. YES! Those were some of the sexiest threesome scenes I've ever read. I'm not going to spoil it for you, so I’m just going to say virgin and it was awesome.

I also had the pleasure of listening to the audiobook. The narrator, Tim Todd, was new to me and I’ll definitely be looking for more by him. I enjoyed the voices he used for the main characters and he did a great job with the little girl. Todd added a whole layer to AJ’s character which I didn’t get from reading it alone, and I love when narrators are able to do that. He kept the highly charged sex scenes mellow and low-key, which I appreciated. I enjoyed them on a whole different level than reading them alone.

I own a few books from this series so I’m going to get on that right away. Now it's not a matter of whether or not I'll read another book by Aria Grace, but which one I'm going to read first...

A Tale of Love, Polyamory and Family

When The Bough Breaks is a well written story of a gay polyamorous relationship. As Sawyer, Chad and A.J. try to work out custodial parenthood for Bittney's children, Harper and Austin, they discover that they are all falling in love with each other.

As it turns out, it works and moreover works well for the common good of these beautiful orphaned children. These children are the catalyst that draws these men together and united them as a family.

In this modern work of complex human relationships we find here a tale of love, respect and of family. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and this author.

Every one of her books delves deeply into human relationships. Her characters are intertwined from all of her books. I have become a very sincere fan of Aria Grace.

Loving Family and sexy guys

I received this the audio edition of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This is the 8th book in the Mile High Romance Series, while I read the first 3 books in this series, I didn’t have any problem jumping into this one. The referencing made at the start of the story gave me the impression one of the MCs was in a previous book, but the story stands alone easily. I love when kids are involved, but I would have liked it to be a bit longer and to see a bit more character development. I did wonder if Chad was developed more in a prior story because we only get the backstory on A.J. and Sawyer. I got that the guys each individually cared about the kids and that was attractive to each other, but I didn’t get the instalove between all three guys at practically the same time. That withstanding, I just allowed myself to enjoy the story that was presented and it was a 3.5 star read. I usually find myself wanting a bit more at the end of an Aria Grace story, but this one delivered enough past the consummation of the relationship that I would have been satisfied without the bonus scene. That’s not saying the bonus scene wasn’t worth it; it definitely was. I listened to the audio version of this book and it was great. The narration and pace were good; I could easily differentiate the characters and would recommend this narration to others.

Good addition to the series

Would you consider the audio edition of When the Bough Breaks to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the book yet, but I plan to.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I would have liked Sawyer to be less insecure, I feel like his insecurity was exaggerated and it made him more of a caricature. Most of the time the narrator's voices for the characters was distinctive, except towards the end of the book during the last couple chapters when Chad sometimes sounded too similar to AJ's voice.

Have you listened to any of Tim Todd’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to any of this narrator's books before so I wouldn't be able to compare this reading to others.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, I would've liked to have listened to this book in one sitting, but that wasn't possible.

Any additional comments?

This is the first audio book I've reviewed and it took me a little time to adapt to listening instead of reading, but I enjoyed it. 'When the Bough Breaks' is a good addition to the 'Mile High Romance' series. I also intend to read this book once I catch up with the other books in the series.

The Narrator is fantastic.

I was given the audible book in exchange for a fair and honest review as part of the Don't Buy me Love program. I was traveling for a training and needed a nice light book to listen to as I drove. This book was perfect for that. Tim Todd is fabulous. He did each voice exactly perfect, and made this book work. I don't love m/m/m or any trio much because the reality of the situation not working in real life generally makes it hard for me to just enjoy the story. Tim's narration of this story made it work anyway. Who cares if it wasn't realistic! It was just fun to listen to and the story enjoyable. Would I have liked it if I was reading instead of listening? No idea, but I'm really glad I got to listen.

If you like M/M/M, then you'll probably like this book. There really isn't much of a mystery or major tension, but the guys and the kids are enjoyable, and you find yourself wanting things to work out. I liked the interactions between the men. I would like to have seen some more character development for all 3, but for a short book, it was okay.

Thanks for the opportunity to listen to and review this book. :)

3 Is the Best Kind of Crowd

Not many authors can tackle the trick of joining 3 very distinct personalities into one cohesive unit. It can be contrived in a way that takes away from the beauty of the storytelling. This is not one of those. This story is full of such fear, longing and love. It has been woven in such a way that makes you want to skip to the end and make sure that despite all the uncertainty and fear that everyone gets there happily ever after.

Three men thrown together by tragic circumstance find themselves having to unite to to fight a common foe and what brings them together might just be the one thing that will keep them apart but they find a strength in each other that makes them risk it all to provide two beautiful children with their best possible chance.

I am a devotee of Aria Grace's novels and this one does not disappoint. The story and narration meld to give you a wonderful experience. Such a wonderful addition to this amazing series :-)

A Great Story About Family

What made the experience of listening to When the Bough Breaks the most enjoyable?

I loved how the characters each came to be their own person and find their own joys...and with each other at that.

What does Tim Todd bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

It was great to hear his different "voices" as the three guys. I would not have had the same experience just reading it as I did listening to him become Chad, Sawyer and AJ

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed at the crazy baby situations and the funny things Harper would say, but I cried as the guys tried to find their balance and fight for the babies!!!

Any additional comments?

Though this might not be for everyone, I really enjoyed the story and getting to see the softer side of Chad.
