About this listen

A long-awaited memoir from the larger-than-life, multifaceted lead vocalist of Iron Maiden, one of the most successful, influential, and enduring rock bands ever.

Pioneers of Britain's nascent rock and metal scene back in the late 1970s, Iron Maiden smashed its way to the top, thanks in no small part to the high-octane performances, operatic singing style, and stage presence of its second but twice-longest-serving lead singer, Bruce Dickinson. As Iron Maiden's front man - first from 1981 to 1993 and then from 1999 to the present - Dickinson has been, and remains, a man of legend.

But OTT front man is just one of the many hats Bruce wears. In addition to being one of the world's most storied and well-respected singers and songwriters, he is an airline captain, aviation entrepreneur, motivational speaker, beer brewer, novelist, radio presenter, and film scriptwriter. He has also competed as a world-class level fencer. Often credited as a genuine polymath, Bruce, in his own words (and handwritten script in the first instance!), sets forth many personal observations guaranteed to inspire curious souls and hard-core fans alike.

Dickinson turns his unbridled creativity, passion, and anarchic humour to reveal some fascinating stories from his life, including his 30 years with Maiden, his solo career, his childhood within the eccentric British school system, his early bands, fatherhood and family, and his recent battle with cancer.

Bold, honest, intelligent, and very funny, his memoir is an up-close look inside the life, heart, and mind of one of the most unique and interesting men in the world - a true icon of rock.

Excellent Overall - Scream For Me!

Excellently written and performed. I expected perhaps a bit more dirt but as Bruce himself states at the end of the book there was more material than one book would allow. Great insights into one of heavy rocks most Influential and charismatic frontman.

Revealing, Entertaining, & Inspiring

well written account of a fascinating life in rock and roll and aviation. I often wondered after watching Flight 666 how Bruce found his way into the cockpit of a 757. Highly recommended.

If you are a Maiden fan and especially if you are a fan of Bruce, don't hesitate to pick this up. Enlightening, engaging, fun, and funny. It just seemed to end too quickly.

Great story, wonderfully written and read.

This is the kind of autobiography that I am 100% sure I would have greatly enjoyed even if I didn’t know who Bruce Dickinson was. It is an absolutely brilliant book! I read it and then discovered it was best to hear him tell (read) it him self. Just wonderful!

What can you say?

Bruce is, to use the parlance of the military, "the pointy end of the spear" that is heavy metal. This book will confirm everything we as fans ever thought of him. He's a gentlemen, a scholar, highly intelligent, and completely workmanlike in his approach to everything he does musically and beyond. This book is amazing.

Amazing Stories, Excellent Narration. Hilarity.

I was excited for this book when I heard Bruce was going to put one out (so to speak). I purchased the hard cover as well as the audio book. I love that the audio book released at the same time as the print version (Take note other authors!).

First the book itself. Its very well written, put together and contains a lot of great humor and stories about Bruce, his life with Iron Maiden, rock-n-roll, flying, fencing and his fight with cancer. Audio or print, this book is worth the time time to go through, its very well done.

The audio book. What can I say, but Bruce you probably have yet another amazing talent you didn't know you had, which is audio book narrator. People think its an easy job, but its not and very few people are good enough at it, that people WANT to listen to them. You sir, have this talent. You read this book as if you wrote it! Wait... yes that.

Bruce is an excellent narrator and should read some more great stuff. I highly recommend you check this book out eve if you aren't an Iron Maiden fan, its not all about that.

Thank you Bruce!
