Publisher's summary

Charity Evans and Lynzee Lavender haven’t always had the best relationship - for the most part thanks to them being writers. But while Lynzee is the wealthy, successful New York Times best-selling author of science fiction books, Charity is just squeaking by. Why is success passing her by? And why is her publisher all of a sudden reluctant to renew her contract?

Now, Charity suspects the worst: that her own sister has had her blacklisted! With her savings dwindling, Charity struggles to pay her bills, and the pressure is putting an incredible strain on her marriage. The rivalry goes into overdrive when Lynzee reveals that the father of the child she gave up years ago is...Charity’s husband!

Charity’s life goes into a tailspin as she struggles to decide if she should tell her husband about the child he never knew he had, or if that would be just the excuse he needs to abandon her for good. She knows she has to do something, but will the path she ultimately decides to take end up destroying them all?

Atrocious reading

This book was not the worst but the reading was absolutely horrendous. To call her a narrator would be entirely too generous. I almost lost it when I heard her pronunciation of the word "gnawing" around chapter 54 in the rat scene. The lady's reading truly spoiled what could have been a decent book.

Shameful

I can't imagine that Rosalyn McMillian didn't require this person to do a reading for her; I'm so embarrassed for the "narrator" who that's being overly generous to call her, I knew it was a complete fail when she mispronounced "dilemma" each time, it wasn't a mistake in pronunciation; I then blamed the Rosalyn.

Just shameful honestly. No other words can describe it.

I love the story but

I love the story! Roslyn's books are always good but this narrator destroyed it. I think she has a great voice for the characters but the reading and pausing is horrible. I tried to give it a benefit of doubt because it is Roslyn McMillan's book but I almost couldn't take it a few times and was ready to leave.

Rest in Peace Rosalyn McMillan

Rosalyn McMillan passed in 2017 (rest in peace) which is one of the reasons I was anxious to listen to this audio just released in 2020. I was looking forward to hearing Rosalyn's author voice again. It's hard to compare this book to Rosalyn's other books. In fact, it is so different it's as if someone else wrote this story and slapped her name on the cover. The characters, style, and wording were so vastly different from her other work, which is sad because I was so excited to jump into this one. It's also ironic that the story was about sibling authors, one who needed serious editing and ghostwriting for her work. This book could have used a good editor.

Also, I hate to say it, but the narration was bad. It was so bad it was distracting to the overall storyline. There were so many awkward pauses and verbal mistakes, mispronunciations, it was truly hard to get through.
