About this listen

On my eighteenth birthday, I got kicked out of my home, mugged in an alley, and killed a guy with my mind ... then things got weird.

I expected aging out of the foster care system to be hard. I wasn't expecting it to include finding out I was a Warlock, destined to be hunted by the most powerful Witch Families so they could bind me to a coven of thirteen witches and spend the rest of my life "harvesting mana". Add to that a set of magical resonants that made me an even bigger target to some of those Witch Families, some of which would rather kill me than let a rival get me.

How's a warlock supposed to stay alive and free? Simple - just go to Witch College, find thirteen witches willing to be bound to you forever in your own coven, and learn enough magic to fend off the most powerful Witch Families in the world.

Wonderful world and relationship building

The characters came alive and have taken up residence in my head. Can’t wait for the next book to come out early next year. The audio performance was also quite good and did not have and voices that grated on me even if they didn’t initially match the mental voice I had for a character.

Hmmm

I love this book but people overhyped it. The MC is a bit of an idiot and kind of irritated me a lot. Also Mel better join the coven

Excellent audio quality for an outstanding story

Sometimes audio doesn't do justice to the story. This isn't one of those times. The dual narration is outstanding and the voice acting is excellent

Fantastic start to a series

This book was a fantastic start to the series. The pacing is fantastic and the characters are amazing. If you're looking for a fun book to listen to and like witches, magic and a bit of romance give this book a try. The magic seems loosely based on Wicca and the author does a good job giving it a fair shake while dramatizing for fantasy enjoyment. The main characters develop well, romance isn't rushed into being and the progression feels natural. Overall a fantastic book.

Wasn't for me

This story was over hyped for me. I really, really didn't like the relationship dynamic with the main love interest. The MC is also dumb as rocks. He's incapable of making single logical deduction through 95% of the book, and then when he finally does he stands around in shock before being able to take an action. If you can get over the dumb MC and you don't mind the relationship dynamic I would call it a decent listen.

Really?

Are you serious? Modern day witches act like they are nobles...and men are property instead of people. AND he goes to all girl school for magic. AND we find out that the person he staying with his going to be a teacher since he is going...so why does he need to go? Also, he really isn't the sharpest, how long does it take a person to realize the cat is a person.
