To them, he was an experiment. To me, he is family.

The first time I saw him, I had no idea he had recently escaped from a mysterious lab. That he had been created there. I'd been living on the streets, which was tough, but preferable to home. Then one day, I stumbled upon this mangy dog being attacked.

I saved him. But then he saved me and I realized that Muttface wasn't a normal dog. He was crazy intelligent. I'm talking Mensa levels.

When we sought help from a grieving veterinarian named Sully, his clinic was attacked and destroyed by mercenaries. So now here we are, the three of us. On the run across the country against a powerful enemy. Who are they and what do they want with us?

Through the danger, terror, and pain, one thing was becoming clear to me: I have finally found the family I always wanted and I will do anything to keep them safe....

Even if it means risking my own life.

*The award-winning creator & screenwriter of ground-breaking BBC television show, Spirit Warriors starring Jessica Henwick (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Game of Thrones, The Defenders) brings you an action-packed thrill-ride in her debut novel fans unanimously raved about, describing it as a "Must-Read" and "Unputdownable". Loved This!

Animal lovers of all ages will just love this wonderful story and be rooting for Bandit. I was captivated from beginning to end and completely wowed by this tale of survival, love and family. Sometimes real family is the one you create, not the one you are born into. Although I am much older than the target audience, the characters tugged at my heartstrings and I fell in love with Bandit the dog. The suspense kept me riveted to this terrific story and I enjoyed the tender moments as well. The ending was very satisfying. The narration was excellent and definitely one of the highlights. Her voice as 14 year old Chase was very believable and I loved the emotion that she brought to the characters. This was a terrific listen and I would highly recommend Wanted.

Even more remarkable as an audio book

Heather Masters narration of this exciting story is really something special. She reads with an amazing emotional versatility and wonderful wry sense of humor, which I had completely missed when I read this first as a book. I reveled in Chase’s personality with the subtle inflections in her voice and marveled at the deep voice and unsympathetic hardness of the professional mercenary.

It was as if I was watching a film. Quite a few times I was so engrossed in the story that I reached for the iPad to adjust the picture or reached for my glasses because I couldn’t see it quite clearly enough, and then laughed, realizing I was listening to a an audiobook.

A girl and her dog and mad science and mercenaries

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

This was a wonderful story about a girl, Chase, who befriends a stray dog only to find out this is no ordinary dog. She quickly learns this dog is super intelligent (for a dog) and they are set upon by mercenaries determined to retrieve the dog.

A wonderful story with many twists and turns as Chase is constantly on the run throughout the whole book. The dialog is never stale and the story never drags. Narrator Heather Masters does a great job differentiating between characters and portrays them with vibrant emotions. This story is great for the family (under 10 may find it confusing) but even adults will enjoy it.

Amazing story

I received this book for free at my request but the opinion is my own. This book was awesome! Chase is use to living on the streets not trusting anyone due to her past running into a dog that gets hurt. She soon finds out he has special abilities and wants to protect him. Great characters, fun plot, really fun read. You definitely root for not only the dog but for chase to let down her guard toward people.

Great human animal interaction!

I love animals and do not approve of them being used in any experimental capacity. The main character is a very likable character and the 2nd main character is a Very loveable Dog. The 3rd main character is a bereaved Veterinarian named Sully and a interesting person who is going through a living hell. Excellent storyline and I look forward to more by this author.
The Narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life.

Engaging

I really enjoyed this book! I was a little surprised that there are almost 150 chapters, but each is very sort, only a few minutes and this actually made the book seem to fly by.

Bandit had to be my stand out character in this book. I was amazed by the personality it was possible to put into a dog when you add super intelligence. Chase and Sully were also really likeable and it was impossible to not want them to succeed.

I enjoyed the various twists that come along and the whole book had my attention, I finished the book in one session.

The character voices were really good and the narrator did a great job conveying the emotions of the characters and the overall story.

Can I have a dog like this? Please!

I offered to review this audiobook because I am such an an avid reader but also almost exclusively audio due to my schedule. Because of this, and the fact that a bad narrator can destroy a great series, I can be very critical of narrators. Especially when books have a single narrator required to speak with different voices for multiple characters. Most cannot do it without having some errors where they use the wrong 'voice' for the wrong character. Heather Masters does a great job in narrating this book! It was a very enjoyable listen and I didn't have any issues distinguishing between characters.

As to the story, I am not one to give a lot of specific story details since I feel you should read the story for that. Wanted is book 1 of a series with great character development and plot twists that will keep you listening long all night. While it is book 1 in a series that I am excited to listen to more of, it also reads very well as a stand alone. You definitely won't be disappointed if you decide to give it a try!
