About this listen

Ever wonder what it's like to grow up in Greenwich Village and live the fast life of a teenage kid who's breaking into the brilliant inside world of modeling and television, meeting beautiful girls, hanging out with neighborhood kids willing to try anything once, and doing recreational drugs of every stripe?

Here, by turns, is the revealing, deeply touching, hilarious, and heartbreaking story of a 12-year-old who does just that—who goes from print modeling to soap operas, makes serious money and spends it like it's going out of style, suffers painful losses, crashes into one catastrophe after another, runs into real emotional and physical trouble...and survives because, at root, he has a good heart.

It's a tale of faith in oneself and triumph over tough odds that leave some of his nearest and dearest dead, strung out, or doing hard time.

Growing up in old NYC

Interesting coming of age stories with old NEW York City as a backdrop. The book is a quick read.

Memories of New York - The Road Less Traveled

For anyone that loved NY before it became 'pretty', touristy with Elmo & Batman in Time Square. This book is for you. The author brings the readers along as he navigates his world before 'helicopter parents', and scheduled everything.
The author's journey was never easy. Very few of us would have had the courage, tenacity and, in many instances, sheer luck to survive some of his more precarious adventures.

I didn't want this book to end. I wanted to tag along for the next chapter, the California Adventure. If we are lucky, the author will share some of those stories in the future.

Loved it!

Narration was wonderful, writing was great! Some experiences were expressed with great detail. They were narrated in a way that brought me to the scene and made me invested in the well-being of the author. Very down to earth expression of perceptions in each given circumstance; really had you able to relate and get a good idea what life was like in the 80s in that part of New York through the eyes of the writer.
