About this listen

The aces of the New Republic have one final chance to defeat the darkness of Shadow Wing in this thrilling conclusion to the Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy!

In the wake of Yrica Quell’s shocking decision - and one of the fiercest battles of their lives - the remnants of Alphabet Squadron seek answers and closure across a galaxy whose old war scars are threatening to reopen.

Soran Keize has returned to the tip of Shadow Wing’s spear. Operation Cinder, the terrifying protocol of planetary extermination that began in the twilight of the Imperial era, burns throughout the galaxy. Shadow Wing is no longer wounded prey fleeing the hunters of the New Republic. With its leader, its strength has returned, and its Star Destroyers and TIE squadrons lurk in the darkness between stars, carrying out the fallen Emperor’s final edict of destruction - as well as another, stranger mission, one Keize has championed not for the dying Empire, but for its loyal soldiers.

Alphabet Squadron’s ships are as ramshackle and damaged as their spirits, but they’ve always had one another. Now, as they face the might of Keize’s reborn juggernaut, they aren’t sure they even have that. How do you catch a shadow? How do you kill it? And when you’re finally victorious, who pays the price?

This unofficial timeline explainer offers a brief illumination of each period and the stories set within.

Among the best

The performance was outstanding and the story/series are among the best of the new canon. I'm a huge fan of the rogue squadron /wraith squadron series, and alphabet Squadron is right there with them!

A fantastic ending for an of outstanding trilogy!

The entire Alphabet Squadron trilogy is a riveting exciting and thought-provoking take on the Star Wars Galaxy. Freed explorers the moral and philosophical aspects of the war part of Star Wars while telling intriguing tales with compelling, complex characters in dynamic adventures. The whole trilogy works together as one and this installment beautifully brings it all together for a great finale.

Great Series

Great ending to a very enjoyable series. Pairs up perfectly if you've played the game Squadrons.

Best Canon Novel To Date

It was so good. It made me laugh, it made me sad, it made me remember why I fell in love with Star Wars. Thank you Alexander Freed. And thank you January for bringing it to life.

Much better narrator than the 2nd book!

I really enjoyed the first book of the series but the second just about lost me. The awful narrator combined with a fairly bland story, almost had me skipping this book. I’m glad I went ahead to finish the series because this narrator mixed with a faster paced story wrapped things up nicely! I really like the make up of alphabet squadron and I feel the characters got the proper ending.

Uninspired ending, good overall trilogy

The whole series was great. The ending was very uninspired in my opinion. I also made the mistake of listening to the rogue squadron books before this trilogy, and rogue squadron blew it out of the water. Either way, the alphabet squadron books are pretty good, some plot points don’t make sense to me and some odd choices by the author but good.

Amazing

Couldn’t think of a more perfect conclusion to this trilogy. It feels self contained but also adds to the world building in unique ways. The character work is also really well done and their arcs are super satisfying

Probably one of the better Disney Era Books

After listening to both this series’ prior entries (not comics, need to read em still) (Shadow Fall was definitely the worst of them, I’m sorry to the narrator of that book she got so much flak) this book was really good. Character arcs ended well, story was engaging, a solid reminder of how hellish war is. Ending was solid, the final little twist is something I saw from miles away but it honestly didn’t feel too forced. Overall, a good book in my opinion, it ranks probably top 3 of the Disney books I’ve read/listened to, worst top 4 simply because the Thrawn Series is so damn good. Feels wise only Lost Stars is the only good comparison.
