Considering predating Dracula it's at least interesting for the history. The actual story itself is more a suspense than straight up horror. It suffers from verbage though. The author really really loved throwing as much at you as possible, in an age where every word was your pay.

Good story but definitely wordy

I couldn't bear to listen to it all the way through. just awful. I suppose Penny Dreadfuls were coarse stories for simple people. Feast of Blood? Apart from the beginning, this was boring. The story just stagnates, as if to stretch it out. The characters (the Admiral especially) are so comically bad it made me cringe countless times. The writing and performance of the angry mob was embarrassing. It is as if this were written for children, but couldn't hold their attention for 5 minutes. This was a waste of a credit

So bad it is.... well, BAD.
