About this listen

The Dark Protectors are back! All new stories and a great entry point for new fans! Vampire King Ronan Kayrs wasn't supposed to survive the savage sacrifice he willingly endured to rid the world of the ultimate evil. He wasn't supposed to emerge in this time and place, and he sure as hell wasn't supposed to finally touch the woman who's haunted his dreams for centuries. Yet here he is, in an era where vampires are hidden, the enemy has grown stronger, and his mate has no idea of the power she holds.

Dr. Faith Cooper is flummoxed by irrefutable proof that not only do vampires exist... they're hot blooded, able to walk in sunlight, and shockingly sexy. Faith has always depended on science, but the restlessness she feels around this predatory male defies reason. Especially when it grows into a hunger only he can satisfy - that is if they can survive the evil hunting them both.

HORRIBLE Narration GREAT story!

This narrator seductively whispered, added a horribly sharp “sh” sound at the end of every s, and had ZERO emotion or inflection behind anything she read. I couldn’t get past it to finish listening to the book.

The story, however, is a fun spin-off for the Dark Protectors series. I just have to read them instead of listen because she is just awful to listen to.

Worth the wait!

Warning -- SPOILER ALERT
This review contains a couple of spoilers from the first 7 books. Don't start the series here if you want to experience this saga from the beginning. Book 8 is a new beginning, but many of the characters were introduced in the first seven books.

I was very disappointed when the Dark Protectors series ended. A few month ago, when I saw Vampire's Faith listed in pre-orders, I purchased it right away and waited patiently for it to be released. I was not disappointed. The story of Ronan Kayrs is beginning of a whole new adventure. It is great to see Garrett Kayrs and Logan Kyllwood back. I hope to see more of the Kayrs and Kyllwood families in future books. I also like the narrator, Gabra Zackman, much better.

This book opens up a few years after book 7. I'm glad Rebecca Zanetti set up the opportunity an extension of the series when she ended that book. The first cycle started when Janie and Zane met in a dream world as children in book 1. I looked forward to experiencing their journey as I read the other books. When I started reading this series, books 1 - 7 had all been published. I was happy to see that. It would have been torturous to wait years to see how their story ended. The ending was satisfying. Their union helped to unite two warring species. But the destruction of their dream world has set in motion a new problem. Book 7 ended with the promise of a new beginning and a new adventure. Janie and Zane's seven year old daughter Hope has her own dream world. Her parents haven't discovered that yet, but I'm sure they eventually will. Hope shares her dream world with Drake, who is also seven. Their people are enemies, but they have decided to be friends. And so it begins again. I am looking forward to experiencing their journey, which will probably take several years and several books.

The main story features Ronan Kayrs and Faith Cooper. In a way their story reminds me of Cara and Talon from the first book, Fated. Faith is completely unaware of the existence of vampires and other creatures. As she is pulled into their world as a fated mate, she eventually accepts that fact. Ronan was a part of something big hundreds of years ago, and now he must complete the mission that was started long ago. I am looking forward to reading about Ronan's journey. As the Kayrs family and the Kyllwood family are joined by other powerful creatures, this promises to be an adventure of epic proportions.

Thank you Rebecca Zanetti. I will be able to enjoy more adventures from the Dark Protectors for years to come.
PS -- I hope Nick Veis will return in future books. He and Zane are great team, and I would love to have update on what is happening in his life.

It's not your normal Dark Protector book

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I think a lot has to do, for me, the narrator. I had just done a re-listen to the previous Dark Protectors where Karen White was the narrator preparing for this book thinking it was a continuation of the other series. It was hard for me to actually get into this book because of a new narrator and it's not an actual a continuation per se. It shouldn't be listed as book 8 maybe? It's a spin off of Dark Protectors like the Realm Endorsers.

I'm just finishing up listening to this book as I'm typing this and feel I will have to buy the book so I can read it and maybe I can follow along with everything better.

Great Start to This New Shift in Series

Gabra’s narration was the key sell here. Kirsten Potter’s somewhat hysterical and overly dramatic style made for a bit campy interpretation of the other books, although Rebecca’s sharp plot twists still made for an enjoyable ride. Gabra’s measured delivery and understanding of each character’s place as we’re lead into this new arc in the series, lent a gravitas to the plot that served to elevate an already gripping story. I can’t wait for what’s next.

Huge Fan Narrator, Gabra Zackman aka Isabel Gordon

I seek her reads and when on $4 sale, WOW. The Sin Brother series from this author is the best. Matt story is the best one.
The author gets a bit repetitive in this story. Even though our hero is so yummy.
Were my comments of help?

I was disappointed at first!

I was disappointed at first because I expected it to be more of the Realm instead its about a Kares family member you have never heard of and the beginning of a different story. Thank goodness the next 3 books were part of the plus program and were included in my membership or I probably would not have bought the next book.

Not as good as later entries

This is only my second book in this part of the series. I went back to this one to understand the origin storyline better.

At first I thought the story was really interesting because it felt very realistic as to how a doctor and scientist would react to being told someone was a supernatural creature and going on this adventure.

But after a good while when she knew the score I found the FMC to be really annoying, that all too common book trope of equating being extremely difficult, contrary and just stupid with being strong and independent.

These ridiculous unnecessary conflicts in the face of catastrophic events made me really dislike the FMC and I was not invested in that part of the story.

However I did still enjoy learning the history of the vampire demon hybrids, their family legacy and world building.

Later in the book it seemed like there was a brief switch in narrators which was weird and confusing but maybe I missed the reason.

Definitely an adjustment

I was really excited to get a new book from the Dark Protectors series. At first, I didn’t realize that this was a first book of a spin-off series. There is definitely an adjustment to the plot and I struggled a bit with it. I also must admit, that for the first time, I did not like the Heroine. Faith is supposed to be a brainiac but she is really an idiot; and a lousy judge of character. She also was contrary just because she thought it made her more independent. She would argue that the sky isn’t blue just because the Hero said it was. In addition, I did not like this narrator. She often gets her character voices confused and reads lots of the text rather monotone.

I’m hoping that I enjoy the next book, in the series, more because The Dark Protectors is one of my all time favorite paranormal series.

Great spinoff. Terrible narrator.

Great story. I am loving the spinoff series and excited for things to come. Unfortunately, the narrator was horrible. No difference between male & female OR between characters. No accent variation either for different cultures.
