Publisher's summary

A single dad, forced proximity, standalone romance from New York Times bestselling author K. Bromberg.

Crew Madden needs to find a place to recover.
For his twin girls.
For himself.
From the woman who left them without a backward glance.

Recovering from a traumatic event, a summer in the small town of Redemption Falls was the perfect solution for him. For his family. The only drawback? The rental cottage at the end of the drive.

But then he met its tenant.

The quiet, guarded, sexy-as-sin woman who took Crew’s breath away.

Tennyson West moved to Redemption Falls to hide.
From her previous world of abundance.
From the woman she used to be.
For a chance to start over . . . and be free.

She’s settled into her new life on the outskirts of a small town, content with her solitude. Her peaceful life.

And then she met her new landlord.

Crew Madden—and his sweet daughters—entered her life with a bang. She learned how to laugh again, to love again, something she never thought would be possible.

It was only meant to be a summer fling, but as demons from their past knocked on the door, their relationship was tested. Was their love strong enough to keep them together or would danger drive them apart for good?

Small Towm Single Dad Perfrction!

Tenny is running and hiding from her past and finds herself landing in the small town of Redemption Falls. She is renting a small cabin on a ranch outside of town. Her landlord, who lives in a separate house on the same property, leaves his ranch in the care of his nephew, Crew, for the summer. Crew and his twin tween girls move in and start cleaning the place up. The twins introduce Crew and Tenny by planning a dinner together. Crew and Tenny get to know each other and feelings start developing. Crew is battling some mental demons while Tenny is battling the demons of her past. Will this keep them apart?

I felt drawn into this book from the very beginning. There’s no slow start to this book! You can feel the chemistry between Tenny and Crew the minute Tenny sees him for the first time. And when the kids pull the dinner trick, you know Tenny and the twins are going to have a great relationship. Her bond with the twins is instant and she found herself spending a lot more time with the three of them. And as small towns go, there’s a bit of gossip with some drama, but nothing over the top. Crew and Tenny fight through their battles

This is my first K. Bromberg book and I will tell you it certainly won't be my last! And the narration?!? Where has Blake Lockheart been my whole life? Samantha Brentmoor is amazing as Tenny. I also love that we get to hear her southern voice, which is just perfect!

For how short this book was, it sure packed a dramatic story.

For how short this book was, it sure packed a dramatic story. Single dad Crew escapes the big city with his girls after being shot on the job. He ends up sharing a property with Tessa, who is hiding out in a small town and living a life under witness protection. Crew’s twin girls steal the show in this story. They bring Crew and Tessa together and the rest is history.

This story road the line between being darker than it needed to be with Tessa’s flashbacks and Crew’s traumatic event, and not dark enough. I honestly kept hoping we would see more on how Tessa brought down her ex. I think the story would have benefited from a few more flashback scenes to embrace that darker part of the story and give it more of an identity.

Having said that, I was also hoping for a few more present day scenes to drive home the connection between Crew, Tessa, and the girls. I was hoping for a scene where Tessa would dance at the studio with the twins or have another dinner night all together. I wanted a little more lead up on how we end up with Tessa tucking in the girls at night like it was the new normal.

I know it seems like I didn't like the story, but I did. Perhaps I just needed a little more of it all.

Both narrators did very well and I enjoyed their portrayals of the characters.

Book 3.75 stars.

Narration 5 stars.

Great new series

This is a wonderful beginning to the series with Crew and Tenny and his twin daughters. He is a great father who is trying to put their lives back together after his wife left. Tenny is the tenant in the house on his uncle's land. There's an attraction between them but both are reluctant to start a relationship. There's suspense from Tenny's previous life. I really enjoyed this book. I'm looking forward to the next book. Samantha Brentmoor and Blake Lockheart were great narrators.

fantastic story!!

Wow, I absolutely loved this book and listening to the audio version was perfect.

Crew takes his twin daughters to Redemption Falls to recover after multiple things that happened to them over the last 18 months... his wife leaving him and the girls and him nearly dying from a gunshot wound. They go to his uncles house to do some repairs before he sells it, and he meets his new tenant that lives in the cottage on the property. Tensley is hiding out... she didn't know she'd been married to a drug lord until one night but was able to get away and fake her death. Now she's doing her best to stay hidden from her husband. Of course, no one there knows her secret. But the chemistry between Tensley and Crew is undeniable.

The story played out as I had figured and feared.... but wow was it amazing!
The narrators did an amazing job on bringing the story to life, and I loved it wholeheartedly. Definitely one I'd recommend listening to!

Small town, single dad romance

First, I gotta say that I've been loving some single dad romances and they may be my current cat nip. There's just something about a man with his kids that melts my heart. And Crew Madden just upped the ante. He not only has one kid, but TWO kids that are twin preteen girls!! Now, that's gotta be hard. But let's get back to the story.

Crew moves him and his two girls, Addy and Paige to a small town after he has a tragic experience on the police force. He needs some down time with his girls. Tennyson is his tenant that lives on his land and she has a secret on why she's living in the small town.

I was immediately intrigued with this possibly being a romantic suspense, but it was just a little side of suspense. I actually wish we got more of Tenny's secret. Her past is sprinkled throughout the story leading up to the end, but that part was actually pretty strong and we could've focused more on that. It played too minor of a part for my liking. I liked that Crew clued into who she was and went with his gut being a police officer and all. But the best parts were when we got Crew, the twins and Tennyson all together. I adored the girls and Crew's love for them. I liked their connection with "Trust Fall" and how it had so much more meaning to them than you know. I may have shed a tear when he shared the meaning with Tennyson.

Of course the reason I love a single dad romance is because of the hero and his kid(s), but having a woman be strong enough to connect with the hero AND the kids makes for that much better of a story. Add in the fact that Tennyson always wanted kids and she became an awesome addition into their family. And the twins thought so too! Just a really good cast of characters.

I decided to listen to this on audio and while I enjoyed the story, I think this book would've been better to physically read. The performances were fine, I just didn't fully feel the connection between the hero and heroine as much as I was hoping

Overall, this was a good story and it appears that it will be the first in the series. While I would've liked to see more suspense, I still enjoyed the feel of the book and cannot wait to catch glimpses of these characters in future books.

“I don’t need a better show. I have it right here.”

Review: I'm not gonna lie this cover is what first drew me into this book! Um...HELLO!😏 Then I kept seeing such good things about it, add in the Single Dad trope(which I am LOVING right now), and I knew I had to dive in! This is my favorite K. Bromberg book to date!

I went into this book blind and I am so glad that I did. So I will be vague so that you get to have that experience too! Crew and his girls, stole my heart. He is such an amazing Dad and they were so funny together. I found myself laughing out loud so many times. I adored Paige and Addy, um hello TWINS! You know that's my kryptonite.🤣 The relationship they built with Tennyson made me so happy. You could feel the chemistry between Crew and Tenny. I loved how they helped one another and began healing each other. Trust Fall...IYKYK🥺

The small town characters had me laughing at their antics along with the girls. I loved the plot twist and it kept me intrigued and listening any chance I got. I listened to the audiobook by Blake Lockheart and Samantha Brentmoor. They were both perfect to bring Crew and Tenny to life. Blake did an amazing job with the different voices and Crew's personality. I think it added so much to the experience. This book just made me so happy! I saw that this is Book 1 is The Redemption Series, so I am super curious as to who is next!

Great Story!

My fav of K. Bromberg’s that I’ve read so far. Single dad, small town, and forced proximity tropes with strong, relatable, likable MCs, and engaging storyline. Narration was good!

Wonderful Story & Listen🎧 Captivating & Heartfelt!

K. Bromberg is one of my favorite authors, I love her writing style and her ability to sweep me into her stories and the worlds she creates, and this book was no exception, it hooked me in before the first chapter ended, grabbing my attention and captivating it straight to the end. It has not been easy for Crew, his wife not only left him but abandoned their eleven-year-old twin daughters, Addy and Paige, too. When you swear in and become a police officer, you know you may put your life on the line, but even with all the training, all it takes is one incident to change your life forever, which is what happens to him and his partner when they responded to a job. Crew is still recovering from his line of duty injury, physically and mentally, since he is still struggling with PTSD and guilt about what happened to his partner and best friend. But he needs to think of his two daughters and when the opportunity to go stay at his uncle’s place in Redemption Falls arises, they leave Chicago for the summer and exchange big city life for small town country living. It is back home for Crew, and surprisingly, the girls adapt quickly to the place. I adored those girls, they were masters at playing their father, well, when he let them. Tennyson “Penny” West rented the cottage on his uncle’s property and when he arrived, he saw her note with the list of repairs that place needed, so he had his work cut out for him. Tenny liked living in Redemption Falls, she chose the location for a reason and had mostly kept to herself the time she had lived there after escaping her previous life, and a relationship that was built on lies and, once the lies were revealed, it put her in danger. Addy and Paige were interested in meeting Tenny and made it their business to make it happen, and then the two meddling little darlings made sure their father met her, too. I thought these two were great together and, for each other, their relationship grew naturally and the chemistry between them was smoking hot. But nothing would ever come of it, he was going back to Chicago and she could not get involved with anyone because it would put them in danger. I loved how everything played out in this book, it is a wonderfully plotted story with plenty of drama, heartfelt emotions, some charming moments, heart-rending moments, thrilling and suspenseful moments, and a steamy romance.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Blake Lockheart and Samantha Bentmoor were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life and did so with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee and were believable in every role they played. Lockheart nailed it as Crew Madden, he grasped every side of his personality, from his most vulnerable and tortured side to his loving and caring side. Brentmoor did the same for Tenny, from her strength and determined side to her soft and caring side, she was amazing in the girls' roles too. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance, having you feel every single one. These versatile voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this wonderful listen.
