Publisher's summary

US Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell is lucky to be alive. Three of his fellow agents have died in unusual circumstances in the past 10 weeks. Luke is devastated by the loss of his friends and colleagues, and his inability to locate the killer feels like a personal failure. He and his team are experts at shielding others, but now the protectors are in need of protection.

FBI Special Agent Faith Malone is driven to succeed and confident in her ability to solve every case she's assigned. She's been put in charge of the investigation into the unprecedented attacks, and with Luke's life in danger, the stakes have never been higher. But it's hard to know how to fight back when you don't know who the enemy is.

Luke has teamed up with Faith before, but he's not convinced she's up for the job, and she's not convinced he's telling her everything he knows. As more agents are targeted, Luke and Faith will have to learn to trust each other and work together to bring a killer to justice and prevent any more names from joining their fallen brothers and sisters on the Secret Service Wall of Honor.

Good story line. Good flow.

This book kept me interested. I enjoyed the suspense of the “who done it”. The narrator did a fine job of sharing the story. Her tone and emotion blended well with the author’s word choice.

An easy yet engaging read

The story was a bit confusing at first with so many characters, but picked up and held my interest. Even though I figured out who the “bad guy” was. Narrator was successful in personifying the male characters. Technical recording glitches created long pauses, which were a bit disconcerting.

Faith and danger from all sides

The narrator is great. The storyline is suspenseful and well done. I was hoping for a good outcome for both the danger and the romance.

Narration struggles at first.

Narrator at first is very stilted and makes it seem as though the story is poorly written. After about an hour, she improves and the story runs away from you

It worked

The book is more about forgiveness and reconciliation, relationships, both working and personal, than the secret service and FBI. There were some basic facts about the organizations but not as much as other crime mystery novels. The romance is the main relationship, but there are others as well. I liked the female protagonist’s unflappable nature in her working relationships. The characters were likable, and the plot was at least somewhat believable. This book is mainly about the characters with plot serving to show characters’ nature. Since the characters are likable and their problems realistic, the book works.

I liked the narrator better than most here. I found her voice calming even though it was slow. It seemed to me to match the protagonist’s personality, calm and in control. Overall, Unknown Threat was a diverting read with an uplifting message and decent narration.

Narrator could be better

I think the book could’ve been over in half the time

The narrator took the longest pauses between sentences, so much so that I thought my phone had turned off. I even tried speeding up the listening speed, but that made the pauses stick out even more. The character interpretation didn’t seem accurate either. Not much voice inflection or character voice changes.

Unknown Threat has it all

This book has it all, suspense, romance, banter, humor; not to mention a strong women as the heroine. Faith is the FBI agent who is assigned to find out who is targeting Secret Service agents and the nonstop action goes from there. She is a no nonsense agent who is good at her job and jumps into the case and finds the unexpected along the way. I love books that have strong women characters and Faith is just that. I hope we will see more of Faith as the lead FBI agent in the future.

Suspense is my genre

Good story to listen to while sewing, crocheting or quilting. Suspenseful yet easy on the nerves.
