About this listen
Since Burt retired at 52, he’s been bored. After a chance encounter with a mugger he decides he might just be meant to save the world one crime at a time. And voilà, Burt’s Private Investigations is born.
Before he knows it, he’s in deep and possibly over his head. He stumbles onto a dead body, which turns out to be the daughter of the town’s country club owner who has rumblings of mob ties in his past.
The clues lead him all over the North Georgia mountains, but the most intriguing ones lead to an end of the world compound and its charismatic leader.
Thrown into a bizarre new world, Burt uses his humor to charm potential suspects, his eccentric friends to aid in his discoveries, and his new zest for life to charge directly ahead into the unknown as he learns on the job how to catch a killer.

Story
The story is not your typical murder mystery. The sleuth is not a detective, private eye, or lawyer. He's an ordinary guy with an extraordinary dog. Jacob Martin is trying to make the best of a divorce and mid-life crisis when he gets a call at two o'clock Sunday morning from his mother. His sister has been arrested for the murder of her fourth husband, and his father is near death. Thus begins an adventure that takes Jake and his golden retriever from their Colorado retreat to a backwater town in the Missouri Ozarks.

New Career
Burt is a 52 years old and recently retired. His wife has a high powered job that keeps her away from home during the work week. Burt finds himself bored, and after a mugging incident and an evening of imbibing too much, he places an ad in the town newspaper. Thus Burt’s Private Investigations is born. I loved this book with the fun lovable characters to the well written great plot.

No Place Like Home
Undone is book 1 to the Burt Bigsley Series. Burt is a retired school teacher, who becomes an investigator and is hired to find a killer. This book was wonderful and leads you down a crazy, yellow brick road, with so many twist and turns that you wonder what will happen next. I am looking forward to the rest of this series and the new career of Mr. Bigsley

Great performance of a fun book
I had read this on my Kindle a few years ago, when it was first released, and enjoyed it. I was recently gifted the Audible version and thought it would be good to listen to it before reading the second book, which came out not long ago. I think the artist who performed this book did a fantastic job!

Excellent Book One!
This new mystery series was fresh and inventive and I loved it!
Our hero is a retired school teacher and basically stumbles into becoming a private detective. The mystery was appealing and the whodunnit reveal was off-the-charts insane. I did not see that ending coming!!!!!
Burt is something special and I can't wait to see what he accomplishes in the future.
The narrator was in his element!! The variety of emotions and characterizations were well-crafted and extremely enjoyable.
.
This was a complete story and sets up nicely for another in the series. Yes, please.

Undone
Undone is the first book in the Burt Bigsley Murder series by Jason Deas. As I’m a fan of mysteries, I was excited to listen to this audiobook and it did not disappoint!
Burt is a retired school teacher with too much time on his hands. After stopping a purse snatcher, he celebrates and decides that it’s time to put his free time to better use and just like that Burt’s an unlicensed private investigator. And after solving his first case, Burt’s a little cocky. Burt’s next case won’t be as easy when he finds a body and soon he’s all over the place following the clues to her killer.
Sometimes the first book in a series can just be overwhelming with all the information and characters but that was not the case with this one. This book was written to just let you enjoy this one, while building the world for future books. The character of Burt was well done. Sometimes he came across as just an old man that got lucky and sometimes he seems pretty naive, but he was an easy to like character, who was smart and good on his feet. He was thrown in some weird, crazy situations but he handled them well. Sometimes I questioned his methods, but it just further developed his character.
The murder mystery was very well done! There were so many clues, twists and turns that I never figured it out before Burt had his reveal! I really thought it was one person and that the author was just trying to throw me off the scent with the twists and turns! I was wrong!
The narrator of this book is Kyle Tait, who did a fantastic job with all the characters! The narrator had an easy to listen to voice and was able to bring the story to life. He had an easy pace, clear diction with no weird pauses. The narrator expressed the appropriate emotion to really bring the story to life!
I really hope the author continues this series as he’s done such a great job with this first book! The author has really done a great job of with this first book and built a lot of interesting characters, I’d love to see more of them.

Love it!
Burt is bored with retirement. Through a few chance circumstances, he ends up making the decision to begin his own private investigation company. The first case is easy. The second brings him face to face with a dead girl, a business owner with a shady past, and a doomsday cult. Will he figure out who the killer is or be put out of business for good?
There were so many relatable moments in this book that I absolutely adored the main character. I think my favorite line was “The whole purpose of paying at the pump was to avoid human interaction.”
There were a lot of goofy moments like this that really made the main character, and supporting characters feel real. This entire storyline was fantastic. While I’ve read/listened to a lot of detective murder mysteries, I’ve never come across one with such a unique angle before.
Narration was perfect.

Great new series
This is a new mystery series. Jason Deas is a new author to me. I am a big fan of mysteries and this was wonderful. I liked the characters very much and I can't wait to read the next book and see how Burt continues with his PI business. Kyle Tait does an incredible job of narrating this book. I was gifted this book with the understanding I would leave an honest review.
