I stumbled onto Gideon the 9th some time ago and since then I have tried to read as much of Ms. Muir's content! Loved the story. Can't wait to read more!

This was a decent listen married by a few key flaws: a few of the character voices were extremely similar, leading to confusion when multiple women were talking, but also too many "she's" at once in a scene left the action confused at times.

Overall good story that had interesting twists and secrets throughout, although it was difficult to really grasp the scope of the setting. It's different enough from others that I think it would benefit from more time spent fleshing things out.

Tamsyn Muir has a gift for mysterious and creepy, and this short story is both, with some shocking twists woven in. Just when you think you've got it figured out, she pulls the rug out again.

This is a very engaging and well-crafted short story, and I really enjoyed Muir’s take on ghouls. It’s dystopic, fatalistic atmosphere is as palpable as the grotesquerie on stage. The cops have sent Star undercover to infiltrate The Widower gang to determine if rumors of her possessing a high-level ghoul are accurate. They have lost several undercovers already, but the higher the intelligence of the ghoul, the greater the danger. The complications that arise with the assignment, Star’s furtive behavior, and Lucille and Star’s characters are compelling, and the story did what I love best about a good short: told a satisfactorily complete story.

This is the zed story I've been looking for since WWZ. Story was great, narrator was great, wasn't disappointed. Of course, I knew I couldn't go wrong with a Tamsyn Muir book.
