Publisher's summary

Famous for college basketball, horse racing, bourbon, coal, and bluegrass music, the Commonwealth of Kentucky is also home to industries and opportunities not normally associated with it. Compiled by the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame, Unbridled Spirit shares the success stories of 20 of its members - business leaders who dared to think beyond the region's best known institutions - to encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs from the Bluegrass State.

Kentucky's history of being a small impoverished state didn't stop entrepreneurial Kentuckians like tech inventor and DataBeam founder Lee Todd and former Milwaukee-Bucks-superstar-turned-restaurant-franchiser Junior Bridgeman from overcoming adversity, pursuing their dreams, and achieving their goals. These Hall of Famers, and the others profiled in this book, have built prosperous careers that have redefined what it means to be Kentuckian, inspiring others in communities throughout the Commonwealth to step outside the box and create their own business legacies in 21st-century America.

What a treat!

This is a project that one of my friends took on and it was a sweet surprise in how it turned out. I encourage any and everyone to give this a listen to!

Kentucky’s most iconic brands and entrepreneurs

With the release of the audiobook version, I recently [finally] read Unbridled Spirit from the Kentucky Entrepreneur Hall of Fame. What a great book for anyone interested in entrepreneurship in Kentucky, or even Kentucky history. The book captures the founding stories of some of Kentucky’s most iconic brands and the entrepreneurs that made them household names. As an avid consumer of audiobooks, I was particularly impressed with this one. The production quality is professional and the vocal quality exceptional. The audiobook brings these Kentucky stories to life!

Good resource and captivating stories

Like Aubrey's Brief Lives...but focused on Kentucky's entrepreneurs! The vignettes are interesting, informative, and relevant to those interested in entrepreneurism or business generally. Each seems to have at least one gem of business wisdom.

I think too that this would be a good gift for students who may be considering whether to leave the commonwealth, or for someone who has left and is considering whether to return. The stories in this book exemplify the reasons to stay (or return).
