About this listen
New York Times bestselling author LaVyrle Spencer presents one of her most beautiful and captivating novels—a powerful story of the human heart you will never forget . . .
Five long years ago, Laura Dalton stood on the bleak Nantucket shore waiting for her beloved husband Rye to return—until the day she learned his ship was lost at sea. Now, Laura's lonely heart has found solace in Dan, Rye's closest friend.
Dan has been a beacon of light in her time of darkness, becoming a father to the child that Rye never knew and giving her a reason to live again. But who could foretell that a wind-roughened sailor with sun-bleached hair would come back into their lives? That Laura's heart could betray her soul? That Rye would come home again . . .

Story
A captivating woman with blue eyes and big dreams, Emily was engaged to a man whose touch left her aching for something more. Tom, the handsome new man in town, was her father's rival in business, and challenged her heart's destiny with a single, stolen kiss. Whenever they met, sparks flew. Until she showed him how tender she could be, and he showed her how true passion could feel. Until they both realized the importance of taking vows with someone you really, truly love.

Story
Lee Walker knows it won't be easy to start a new life in a new city. But she is on a mission: to prove to everyone, and to herself, that she can make it here, working in the masculine world of the construction industry. When contracting rival Sam Brown offers her a job, Lee is stunned and a little wary. Sam's motives seem honorable enough, even if he doesn't see her in a strictly professional light. In fact, Sam sees her as the woman she's always hoped to be—smart, capable, warm, funny, and sexy. Before she knows it, Lee is falling head over heels for her boss.

In town, they called her "Crazy Widow Dinsmore". But Elly was no stranger to their ridicule - she had been an outsider all her life, growing up in a boarded-up old house under the strict eye of her eccentric grandparents. Now she was all alone, with two little boys to raise, and a third child on the way. Will Parker drifted into Whitney, Georgia, one lazy afternoon in the summer, hoping to put his lonely past behind him. He yearned for the tenderness he had never known, the home he'd never had. All he needed was for someone to give him a chance.

Agatha was the picture of primness and propriety, but her green eyes could blaze with anger - or sparkle with humor. Scott was the picture of lazy charm and happy indifference to what others thought was right and wrong. They were enemies, then friends. Then the sweet innocence of a child opened their eyes and their hearts - and they were reborn in each other's arms by the soft, wondrous gift of love.

Story
In town, they called her "Crazy Widow Dinsmore". But Elly was no stranger to their ridicule - she had been an outsider all her life, growing up in a boarded-up old house under the strict eye of her eccentric grandparents. Now she was all alone, with two little boys to raise, and a third child on the way. Will Parker drifted into Whitney, Georgia, one lazy afternoon in the summer, hoping to put his lonely past behind him. He yearned for the tenderness he had never known, the home he'd never had. All he needed was for someone to give him a chance.

Great Story
I own the book long before there were computers. I think reading a book is not the same as listening to someone else read it to me. I enjoyed the book. I own most all of this authors book in real life, real books, books you can touch and smell. Ok I reviewed it. I say get it. And listen to it.

I can’t finish!
I always finish a book, but cannot finish this one. It just goes round and round in circles. Guy leaves, guy comes back, girl is married to guys best friend, oh and she has a baby. Old guy and first guy are in competition. Old guy and girl wanna touch each other all the time. I just can’t even. This book drags on and on over the same stuff. If a book is going to be this long, then it needs to have better development. This has a lot of guy and girl wanting to rip each other’s clothes off but can’t. I’m done.

don't know if I'll be able to finish it!
The story is ok although I have become a bit conflicted at times regarding whether I even like these characters and want to finish the book, mainly because the long drawn out overly wordy descriptions of just about everything, especially physical appearances and the sexual interludes, have become tedious and monotonous to get through. I was hoping to love this book, but I just don't. The narrator did a great job for the most part and I would definitely listen to her again. This is probably my first and last try with this author.
