Publisher's summary

Tripping the Night Fantastic is essentially a whodunit, but one that is far from the traditional. There is a murder, there is a sleuth, and there is a solution, but in tone and humour it is somewhere between House, M.D. and Trainspotting.

Charlie Deavon is a British author who meets a fan (the sexually troublesome Amelia Heart) in a pub. The following morning she is found dead.

The main suspect in the case is Simon, Charlie's agent. Having avoided the police, Charlie, Simon, and the local bartender try to solve the case together. The three men, what with the stress of it all, turn to a new drug called Merlin, which allows them to control and share hallucinations.

From then on, they trip and hallucinate their way through to the story's conclusion.

Charlie and co. like to drink. Only they don't so much go for a drink as go for a splash. They wallow in it like mad fish. It really is no way to go about solving crimes.

Unendingly Hilarious!

The book was great. I just couldn't stop laughing, chuckling and chortling at all the antics of Charlie, Keep and Simon. All the collective hallucinations, the telepathy, the "Keep, your fu/$ing with me, right?" was particularly good. The merlin even seemed to become permanent at some point. It was just all awesome. Alan R. Gron did an amazing job with all the characters and made everything even more entertaining.

Trippin'

First off the narration is fantastic. Alan R. Gronis is an amazing story teller and I enjoyed the voices he used for the different characters..

As far as the story goes, this book is a wild ride. It's quite funny and has a very unique story. The characters were enjoyable and I liked their interactions. I personally think this would make a good movie.

The Hangover+an acid trip

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This is one of those books that kind of puts you at a loss for words. It was funny, and I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I can really explain why. The best I can come up with is a comparison, to The Hangover, but that doesn't really do it justice. Imagine getting a story from someone on an acid trip about a previous night of drugs and partying, and that sort of gets you there. If you've ever been the DD at a party and enjoyed watching the drunks be drunks I think you'll enjoy this.

Tripping the night

I tried to like it, but got confused.Tripping was basically taking a drug and messing up one or more lives in a twisted fashion.I liked some parts.Alan R Gron was an okay narrator. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

A Fun Trip

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Charlie Deavon is a mess of a human being - he drinks too much, does drugs and frequently does not really remember what happens during his escapades. However, he has written a successful book which is being made into a movie. Amelia, a woman he meets in a bar, is cast in the movie about his book and then is murdered. When Simon, Charlie's friend, is wrongfully accused of Amelia's murder, Charlie, Simon and their friend Keep ingest a drug called Merlin to help them investigate Amelia's murder. This is where the book really shines -- as a reader, sometimes you are unsure whether events have really occurred or are just hallucinations but either way it's entertaining.

The narrator, Alan R. Gron, had his tongue firmly implanted in his cheek and was spot on.

Laugh your sox off with this farce!

addiction, alcohol-issues, bad-puns, British-humor, England, farce, hilarious, laugh-riot, lawyers, satire, situational-humor, snarky, verbal-humor, whodunit

Unlace the corset and laugh your sox off! While there are elements of a whodunit, that's just the vehicle for this farcical laugh riot guaranteed to get your mind off of the creditors. Absolutely hilarious! I loved it!
I also love the dry/tongue in cheek delivery of narrator Alan R Gron!

A Good Fun Ride

Ok, this was a good fun ride of a book. It gets a little weird but I did like how it wrapped up at the end. It was not a laugh a minute comedy but I had a few good laughs that kept me wanting to finish the story.

At the time of this review, audible still did not have chapter titles for this book.

Note this book was provided for free, however, this is my honest thoughts and review of the book.

UNIQUELY ENTERTAINING

This was a wild entertaining ride, and one I won't soon forget. A refreshing "whodunit" wacky murder mystery with eccentric awesomeness - a very fun and funny audiobook!

Delightful story, very funny and clever, and the narration was great! Nicely done, very much enjoyed it, and I think anyone who listens will enjoy it as well :)
