Critic reviews

"Trixa Iktomi, Las Vegas bar owner, information broker and down-to-earth grad of the school of hard knocks, sasses her way into and out of trouble while avenging her brother's death in Thurman's supernatural series launch. Angels and associates of Eden House, an earthly company that employs human demon hunters with psychic talents, face off against demonic fallen angels who eat souls to gain strength. When she gets news of the Light of Life, an impenetrable shield that could protect heaven or hell from attack, Trixa and her Native American bartender, Leo Rain, are determined to locate it before the demons can." So-so

Even after two weeks after reading it, I'm not exactly sure if I like this book. It wasn't exactly boring, but it was lacking something that would make me want to buy the next one. Maybe it was lack of romance, or better written characters, but it just didn't have that wow effect on me. I'll pass on the next one. Reader wasn't bad.

Snarky heroine out for vengeance

I love Thurman and am always checking Audible for new additions of hers (hoping someday will have all of the Cal Leandros series available for download.) I love the protagonist of this book, sarcastic Trixa. Great entry to another good series.

I loved it.

I really liked this series and I listen to a lot of UF. The reader is very good, the plot is fast paced and twisty. I was surprised several times. And unlike most things I listen to, it stuck with me. I thought about it for a couple of days.

Great story

Absolutely adore the writing skills of this author. This story is great stand alone but also has links with her other series. Love the twist ending.

It reads like a rough draft

The book feels more like a rough draft and not a finished novel in the way the author just states plot developments instead of telling us, the reader/listnener, a story. Also, there seems like little to no foundation is established in the story for the major revelations that occur at its end. Personally, if I wasn't already a fan of Rob Thurman based on her other works, this book would only serve to convince me not to spend any more money or credits on her work. Perhaps her 2nd book in this series makes up for this one, but I can't see myself giving it a chance. I did however, enjoy the choice of narrator. For me, Hilary Huber had a good delivery with an enjoyable tonal quality to her voice.

I hate audible

Would you try another book from Rob Thurman and/or Hillary Huber?

Every time I have tried to download an audible audiobook I cannot get it to simply download. They screw you every time with their own downloader proram. It never mates up with itunes correctly. I am sick of wasting my money and will never do business with them again.

Would you ever listen to anything by Rob Thurman again?

ROb Thurman is great. Audible is not.

Don't go any further

Do not buy the second book. If you got through this one the second book just repeats the boring details from this one. Trixa is a boring character.
