About this listen

An extraterrestrial object is discovered off the coast of California - a sphere that can transport humans to other solar systems.

Death-row inmate Russell Harris and nine other convicts are given the chance to save their lives by agreeing to travel as test subjects on the transporter. But when the first volunteer dies a gruesome death, it becomes clear to Russell and his comrades that the venture is little more than a merciless death mission on which they will all perish.

The surviving Transporter project members find themselves on a new planet and establish a colony alongside a group of abandoned soldiers and scientists. But mortal peril approaches, and the battle for survival has only just begun.

Could be our future?

Enjoyed the overall story. Didn’t know I’d get two stories. Still, it is a worthwhile story. Very futuristic about finding a space ship which transported a group people to other worlds. How they survived, how they build a community using resources available.

Good Performance. Predictable story.

The scientific parts of the story are very good. Interesting worlds and tech. Unfortunately ita explored by cliched characters. The characters are all really predictable. All former convicts. Except the protagonist has a good reason for his xrimes and has remors. So does the sing female character. The villains have poor reasons for their crimes and no remorse. The protagonist and only female in the book hook up. You can probably guess the rest of the character development without reading the book.

Buy it for the neat ideas and ignore the romance.

Fantastic!

The best sci-fi adventure I’ve read in a while. Excellent narrator as well. Well worth your credit!

endless 2nd half

really liked the 1st half ... then perils-of-pauline on the alien planet got almost laughable, along with the 'solutions'. It ends with a big cliff-hanger, but its not for me.

Will keep you hooked...

Transport has some bright spots filled with some highs and many lows and does keep one hooked to see what happens next. Is not PG.. has some crude language.. otherwise good sci fi thriller.

Interesting tech idea, ignored for ad nauseum

Oh details for atom bomb lots of dead stuff and gore, ignored the cool alien tech for painful fighting with no point, stupid non-ending surprise. Good ideas wrapped in garbage.

Uninteresting execution of a cool premise

Struggled to finish this one. Narrator basically had three voices: good guy voice, female voice, and bad guy voice.

Characters had no real internal conflicts (good guys were too good, bad guys too bad, and all female characters were beyond reproach), and I never developed any empathy for any of them.

Then the book just ended. Abruptly.

I'm sure the author is hoping to develop a series of of it, and I'm also sure I won't be reading it.
