Valuable training tool.

I’m very pleased with this second addition of Training Essentials for Ultrarunning. The authors read the book and experts of the topics are added in. This will be my reference tool that I go back to for working through challenges.

Engaging and practical

Full of hands on practical info backed by theory and experience. Entertaining interviews break the theoretical sections nicely. Some training books are boring like reading pubmed. This is not one of them

Audiobook in Podcast Style!

This audiobook is awesome! Whoever told Jason it was a bad idea was crazy. I find that I learn best listening to content like this while being able to reference it in the hard copy. I found the scientific detail much easier to digest a comprehend in this format. The fact that Koop set this up like a podcast with guest speakers and experts makes it even better.

so informative, written for committed runners

This book doesn't just tell you the basics, it breaks down the details each step of the way. Koop doesn't hold back his opinion which is always based on facts and personal coaching experience.

Great Listen

Very technical review but well read so that you can comprehend/ retain information without seeing it. Author does a great job sharing the factual realities of all the anecdotal and legacy practices in running.

Top Notch and Extremely Thorough

I love the fact that he self-published in order to be as true to his teaching as possible. Much respect for that. I found it to be VERY good and well researched information that helped me in so many ways. I def recommend it to anyone that wants to take their ultrarunning to the next level...

Required reading for ultrarunners

Great fact/science based information that will help new runners and experienced runners alike. Strips down many of those things we have heard we should be doing and tells us the whys or why nots. This is one you should probably reread a few times as well.

Well done.

I’m a physician so appreciate Jason’s skepticism and pragmatic approach. He seems careful and precise. Very satisfied with the depth of the book. Only criticism is that meta analyses are only as good as the studies included. Might be wise to include that disclaimer when introducing these sources. He seems pretty aware of bias and heuristics so a minor point.
