Acerca de esta escucha

Critically acclaimed author Margaret Peterson Haddix’s fourth tale from her popular Missing series finds Jonah and Katherine hurtled through time to 1611. Landing aboard Henry Hudson’s ship in James Bay just before a mutiny, Jonah and Katherine struggle to survive brutal weather conditions. They also realize something is wrong. A crucial person has vanished, and the history they remember is drastically different from what they’re experiencing. Will this new version of history replace the real past?

I enjoyed reading Haddix’s previous missing books and couldn’t wait to listen to this book. The performance was amazing and was invested in each word that was spoken. It paired nicely with the story that was written. Have to have a phenomenal performance to go with a phenomenal story and writer like with this.

This was the first book I ever read cover to cover back in middle school. I still love it as a grown man.

The creativity in this book.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I recommend the book with one warning. Up the speed on your app to 1.5 times normal speed. The story is good, but the narrator DRAGS!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Torn?

The most memorable moment was when you realize time has been split into two different dimensions.

What three words best describe Chris Sorensen’s voice?

SLOW, That's all!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

NO! I had to listen to the the first half before I realized you could speed up the narration.

Any additional comments?

I am hoping to find out who Jonah is in the next book, or I may give up on the series.

Good story! SLOW performance!

Very slow narration. I recommend listening at 1.25-1.5 speed. The author also includes confusing plot elements that do not add to the story development. I enjoyed the first 3 books in this series, but this one is not up to par.

Slow Narration (increase speed to 1.25 to listen)

I am giving up on the Missing series. The storyline has gotten way too confusing and boring. I also don't think I can put up with Chris Sorenson's sing-song puppet show voice. He pauses for 1-3 seconds after EVERY sentence. That is a lot of dead space. A waste of valuable listening time. I do like most of Haddix's books. This one just isn't working for me.

(Please note that this is a young adult book and I am an old adult, so take that into consideration when reading my review. It might be perfectly enticing to an 11- year-old.)

I give up
