Cardiff Bay. The government has ordered the excavation of the wreckage of a secret underground base. DCI Tom Cutler is watching from a distance, fascinated by the process. There are people in his dreams. People he feels he should know. The disbanded Torchwood Institute spent a century accumulating non-terrestrial artefacts and catching aliens. Who knows what - or who - might still be intact down there. But by the time they find the first body, Suzie Costello is long gone. Based on the hit series created by Russell T. Story
When the TARDIS is invaded by a holographic marketing scam, the Doctor and Donna find themselves trapped on the Edifice, a purpose-built complex of luxury apartments in space. Their new environs leave much to be desired: millions of beings from across the Universe have been gathered to live side by side in similar apartments. Instead of creating neighbourly affection, it's led to terrible battles being waged in the corridors and on the stairwells.

Story
What do you buy and sell when the global markets reach saturation point? The markets themselves. Thirty years from now the big players in global capitalism have moved on from commodities. The big money is in conflict investment. The corporations keep a careful watch on the wars of liberation and revolution that burn constantly around the world. They guage who the winners will be and sell them arms, intelligence, and power. In return for a slice of the action when the war is won.

Story
Alex Morrow is not new to the police force - or to crime - but there is nothing familiar about the call she has just received. On a still night in a quiet suburb of Glasgow, Scotland, three armed men have slipped into a house, demanding a man who is not, and has never been, inside the front door. In the confusion that ensues, one family member is shot and another kidnapped, the assailants demanding an impossible ransom. Is this the amateur crime gone horribly wrong that it seems, or something much more unexpected?

Interesting plot
Eve Myles does a decent job of narration managing at times to capture even Jack's personality without quite nailing the accent. She handles the other characters well enough but is not as polished as Gareth David-Lloyd (though I believe he has more audiobook/narration experience as well). The plot is pretty complex and any listener will want to pay attention or risk being lost. The character James could be further fleshed out to earn more empathy/sympathy from the reader but all in all if you're a Torchwood fan you'll likely enjoy the book. For those just getting into Torchwood I would recommend the 45ish minute dramatized shorts before this.

Torchwood Border Princes
Torchwood is a BBC Television program which stared to air on October 22 2006. Border Princes by dan Abnett, ( no stranger to Sci FI themes) was the second in the line of three original novels based on that T.V program.
Read by the very lovely Eve Myles, Who plays Gwen Cooper on the team of Torchwood, you will see If you are familiar with Torchwood, that from the first few minutes of the reading, there is something "off" "strange""wrong" which only adds to the drama of the story as you listen on. If you are new to the world of Torchwood ( based in modern day Cardiff, Wales ) You will not pick up on this feeling of something is wrong, but you will be intrigued by the story and its Characters all the way too its exciting end. Border Princes is a well told Sci Fi story with a dash of the human drama and a sprinkling of human emotion.

Poorly done audio made it hard to listen.
The problems I had with the book might be related to the audio system in my iPod or my car stereo. Whichever it was, this book was hard to listen to and therefore I can only give it 2 stars.

Who is James?
Well written, great plot, the reading was spot on. However the author added a new Charactar (james) with no explanation of how he got there. All the regular crew of Torchwood interact with him as though he has been there for years, a part of the Torchwood team. I spent the entire story unable to consentrate on a brilliant plot about: Spoiler: a four dimensional puzzlebox and the creature hunting it. I spent the entire time WAITING for James, who came out of nowhere to be explained.... Why had I never heard of him? Why is everyone acting like he's always been there? (Adam anyone?) Never explained. Ruined the story.
