Publisher's summary

Marianne Neumann has one goal in life: to find her lost younger sister, Sophie. When Marianne takes a job as a placing agent with the Children's Aid Society in 1858 in New York, she not only hopes to give children a better life but seeks to discover whether Sophie ended up leaving the city on an orphan train.

Andrew Brady, her fellow agent on her first placing trip, is a former schoolteacher who has an easy way with the children - firm, but tender and funny. Underneath his handsome charm, though, seems to linger a grief that won't go away - and a secret from his past that he keeps hidden. As the two team up placing orphans amid small railroad towns in Illinois, they find themselves growing ever closer . . . until a shocking tragedy threatens to upend all their work and change one of their lives forever.

Great second book!

I was surprised that at how well written and presented this second book in the series by Jody Hedlund has been. It kept me guessing and entertained by all the various characters.

I loved this book. in fact I love this series.

Sometimes I would dramatically speak out loud at the characters as if I could to do something or to come to their senses. When a narrator can get me involved in the telling of a story like that...well I consider it to be well worth the listening!

Loving the series

I’m really enjoying this series. I’m not a great fan of the narrator Susan Hanfield. I cannot stand her whining voice in a lot of her performances. It wasn’t as bad as I thought maybe because I’ve gotten used to it. I really felt the story. I was rooting for them both. Ready for book number three.

Lovely sequel to With You Always

I enjoyed listening to this second installment of the Orphan Train series and following Marianne's story. The leading man Drew is very charming and I rooted for their love story. The drama mid-story dragged on a bit but overall I liked this book a lot.

Perfect sequel

I love that the story focuses on Marianne, but we still get to know how Elise and Thornton are doing. The story was so sweet. The perfect mix of drama and romance.

Loved it

I have enjoyed reading to the next installment of the Orphan Train series. I can imagine the guild that Marianne feels as she takes on her job caring for the children on the orphan train. She has to make sure they stay safe and go to a good home while also trying to figure out what happened to her younger sister and two other children from her earlier life.
This book really gave insight as to what it was like for the children on the train and made you happy when you felt they were getting a good life and suspicious of some of the families as well. I look forward to seeing what is in store next for the series.

Such a sweet story. We need more books like this one. We need more Christian authors.

Keeps you going.

I absolutely loved reading the next novel and so glad I did. It's really great how it ALL works out in the end. Just when you think there wasn't, there was no hope, Bamm!
Narration was good and the writing was perfect.
I tell ya, You are either very creative or have the diaries of those who lived it. The struggle was real.
It's hard to fanthom the duration it took someone back then to just travel, considering I can drive 650miles in 11hrs, and back then just to go 30 miles took them all day or more.
