About this listen

When Mestenga arrives in Mexico the time of the conquistadors is over—it is no longer the time of the warrior, but that of the settler, and the planter. But when their Capitán discovers a map that promises lost treasure they embark on one last exploration. The treacherous journey through jungle swamps teeming with dangers tests not only their faith in God but in each other.

Amazing and Riveting Story!

This story was a riveting tale of love and loss, triumph and terror, and everything in between. The amazing detailed story telling used by the author kept me interested for the whole 2 hours and the time flew by. The ending had a beautiful meaning and I can’t wait to read more by this awesome author!

As a teenage girl I loved the strong female protagonist and the message of strength and independence she portrayed. Her strength and bravery when deciding how to react and respond to the loss of her old master and his newly-discovered greed and selfishness was a powerful message on always making sure to never lose yourself when loving another.

There was also a unique mystical, fantastical aspect of the story that made it a really cool story.

Overall this was a great listen and I 100% recommend it to any young adult going through their own self discovery. :)

evocative and bold storytelling

To the Horses, After God is an evocative, exotic, and passionate tale stunningly told in a lush first-equine narrative. Set in a time and place rich in colorful history--old Mexico following the time of the Conquistadors-- the storytelling becomes increasingly bold and dramatic, and the book is a wonderful journey for young and old (like me) readers alike. A great book for horse girls!

I listened to this book and really liked the story. I have owned horses my whole life so it kept my attention the entire time. My favorite part is that the story is told from the horse’s point of view. I recommend this book to anyone!
