Publisher's summary
An old house + A new computer program = The travel opportunity of a lifetime...to another century.
Abby Thomas is spending the summer in a run-down old house with a bratty pre-teen named Merrideth she is supposed to tutor. Not a dream job. But it does come with perks.
There's John Roberts, a devastatingly attractive neighbor who is almost too wonderful to be real.
And there's the new computer program Beautiful Houses--also too amazing to be real. No one knows how it works, but with it she can rewind and fast-forward the lives of all the people who ever lived in the house, including Charlotte Miles.
In 1858, the house is a train stop on the Alton & Chicago Line. And Charlotte is stuck there serving meals to the passengers, wondering if she'll ever get to have any fun. And then she meets two travelers who change her life forever.
There's James McGuire with whom she falls in love. And there's his boss, a young Springfield lawyer named Abraham Lincoln. His debate with political opponent Stephen Douglas catapults him onto the national stage. And it inspires Charlotte to take up the cause of abolition.
The House
A stop on the Alton & Chicago Line. A stop on the Underground Railroad.
Watching the house's history unfold, Abby and Merrideth gain a new perspective on their own lives as time and again they see God's loving hand in the lives of its inhabitants.

Time and Again
"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of Audiobook Blast."
This novel isn't exactly a time travel, more like a look back in history. It felt almost as if the characters were stalking the past. There were lessons for all to learn. I will read or listen to more from this author.
The narration was well done by Michelle Babb. The characters were excellently portrayed.

A different kind of mystery .
Time and Again is a historical time travel mystery. This mystery is different from others that you have read and is well worth your time. The characters range in ages from preteen to adult and each one could be someone you know. The plot is well crafted and has twist and turns that keeps you coming back and wanting more. Michelle Babb does a great job narrating and you will enjoy her interpretation of Tina and Again immensely. I highly recommend this book. It is a great listen that you will play over and over again.

It's not so much time travel....
It's not so much time travel, as it is coming of age, religious story .
Not that I don't appreciate stories with that theme - when I'm in the mood. But this was listed under science fiction/time travel, and I felt a little cheated as I was craving a good "take me away from the 21st century!" Time travel.
So, be warned. It isn't a bad story at all, in fact, once I got over the fact that the story wasn't what I was expecting- it was a sweet story, and I quite enjoyed it.

Delightful Story
This is a really nice story. I'd characterize it as young adult Christian fiction. The story is about Abbie, a college girl working with a summer tutoring program. She's assigned to Meredith, in a middle-of-nowhere town in an old fixer-upper house. Abbie goes in with the intention of catching Meredith up on her school work, and maybe trying to improve her social skills a bit. But over the course of the summer, Abbie and Meredith both find out they have much to learn not only from each other, but from the history of the old house. Meredith learns some very valuable lessons, and she and Abbie make some new friends that seem like they will carry over into the rest of the series. I loved the characters, and found myself invested in whether Meredith would make some changes in her life. I also liked the supporting characters of Michael and John.
The writing was nicely done, the history well-researched, and the narrator also does a great job. Michelle Bab (the narrator) is good at differentiating between characters as they converse with each other. I would definitely check out more of the History Mystery series.

Hope Second Book is Better
Would you try another book from Deborah Heal and/or Michelle Babb?
I am always open to giving a new author/reader another chance.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have liked the characters and plot to have been more original. Personalities and situations were things you expected instead of keeping you guessing. For example, the stairs from the maid's room...behind a cabinet? An overweight pre-teen with a distant father who buys her things. Seems like all of that has happened before in other books. Some of the minor characters were pretty interesting.
Which character – as performed by Michelle Babb – was your favorite?
The older lady. The narrator did enough voice change to easily picture this character. Little boy with the speech problem was adorable.
Was Time and Again worth the listening time?
It was ok.
Any additional comments?
I would have liked to have heard more voice differences between the young girl, her tutor, and her mother. I had a hard time following who was speaking since there was very little range in the voice levels. Maybe a more younger sounding voice for the 11year old. Several voices were excellent and easy to identify.
I think it would have also helped if the author had the young girl using more "pre-teen" language. Her dialogue and conversations had me thinking she was older.
