About this listen

Ragnar Beck only wanted one thing out of a life - the chance to soldier.

In a war for the survival of the last continent untouched by the invader, Beck finally gets his shot to prove he’s a combat warrior. As the battle unfolds and the only choice is to fight to the bitter end, he performs like the soldier he was raised to be, leaving no enemy standing on the last battleground he’ll ever see. Or is it?

Resurrected into an afterlife where he must prove his worth to join the ranks of an ultra-elite tasked with becoming the greatest warriors to ever exist, he asks himself the only question a real soldier can - who’s going to stop me?

Beck's struggle to make the grade is as important as his quest to discover who he fights for and why. Part mystery, part alternate history, all action thriller, Tier 1000 is the story of a determined warfighter and the battlefields from the past to the far-flung future that forge him into the ultimate soldier.

Completely different and totally enjoyable!

This story is different than anything I have heard, read, or watched. Certainly it draws from many familiar popular fictions, but is none of them; it is better.
If you are know the worlds built in the other series by Anspach and Spears- stop reading and get to listening! You will not be disappointed whatsoever!
if you are new to the above, cousin, are you in for a entertaining treat! Brilliantly narrated by Dan Bittner, the characters will come to life as you travel with A Soldier who finds himself not dead as he should be, but standing suddenly to be tested for true against the flaming sword of ....no spoilers.
This book combines great qualities of Quantim Leap, The Matrix, The Edge of Tomorrow, Starship Troopers, Clash of The Titans, The Illiad and The Odyssey, The Twilight Zone, Stargate, (Bill and Ted?) and a tad of Logan's Run to name a few glimmers. Blend these together in the mixer with top-notch writing and overlay it with gritty combat action from history near, distant, and future, and that's what you get here.
I can not recommend this audiobook enough!
Absolutely excellent!

Great read Col Mac

Great read, on the edge of my seat, as all warriors dream of Valhalla on the wings of the Valkyrie, we all await the final transition. Wonderful job as always!

Interesting

This is an interesting and unique change from other books from these authors. Has the same great action and gritty nature of the other books by them. I am interested to see how the series unfolds.

A whirlwind of military fun

Loved it. Compelling and satisfying for the ones looking for a war story that's out of this world. Cool references along the way and a fun read, enhanced by a stellar performance from Dan Bittner

I love the idea of this book! it really different than what I've read, and even brought in some Starship Trooper-type tech(book, not movie). This was awesome!

Valhalla with a twist

This is the best audio book I've listened to with Anspach's name on it. It's an interesting premise that got me interested and then kept me hooked with great dialog. And the mystery of "What's really going on?"It is so annoyingly interesting that I had to finish the book to find out the truth.

Not bad.

Huge Anspach fan. I have every audiobook he has put out. The Forgotten Ruins series, Wayward Galaxy series, all the GE titles to include his Dark Operator books with Doc Spears (which I love!, etc. Only thing he’s written that I haven't listened to is his 'Til Death books. That being said, this was my least favorite of his books. That’s not to say it was bad…I thoroughly enjoyed it. The only con for me is the story isn’t as deep, and the world isn’t as large as his previous works. I have zero reservations about recommending this to any fans of Anspach, or any fans of Military Sci-Fi stories for that matter. It deserves a credit for sure.

Awesome and unique story

This was another great effort from Jason Anspach and Doc Spears. This book follows an American soldier who gets enlisted to fight for the god Mars in the afterlife.
The story is unique and original as our hero strives to become an “Ultimate” amongst other fallen soldiers reborn in the afterlife.
The only mark against the book is it lacked the typical grittiness found in Anspach’s book. However , the premise and story were great and I recommend it to anyone interested in the military fantasy genre .
