About this listen

Two men, two different worlds, one destiny.

Gunner has spent half his life running from his past, and the other half trying to protect himself from ever being vulnerable again. He’s escaped his old club and worked hard to earn the VP patch on his cut after joining the Broken Chains. But his entire life is turned upside down when Gunner’s past comes back to haunt him, and the club’s Deaf delivery guy ends up at the wrong place at the wrong time.

When his president asks him to protect the injured man, Gunner wants to say no. After all, he hasn’t been able to take his eyes off Logan since the day they met, and Gunner can’t afford that kind of distraction. But ignoring him is damn near impossible when every time he looks at Logan, he starts to feel something. And Gunner doesn’t think he has the power to resist him for much longer.

There will be no promise of a future though, if the Broken Chains can’t protect Logan from the mess he’s in, but even if they succeed, Gunner isn’t sure there’s a place for Logan in his world.

Broken Chains MC is a Motorcycle Club Romance series with dubious morality, mild violence, and happily ever afters.

Beautiful start to a series!

I actually listened to the second first. I lov d it so much that I had to go back and listen to the the first book! This motorcycle club series is so good! A lot of motorcycle series are well established clubs and this show the struggles of being new. I love the reason the new club was formed and that the characters are very unique. The narration is spot on and I love the voice!

Two men from different worlds fight for what

I love this author. Their ability to create charaters struggle in different worlds day by day. One from violence and survival, another from place silence but sees the beauty of every second.

Gunner and Logan's MC Romantic Suspense Story

Series starter ‘Tidal Wave’ sets up the characters, and what is likely to be just one of many conflicts, of newly established motorcycle club Broken Chains. They have a small membership, few allies and operate legit businesses. They also want to maintain a fierce reputation against other clubs coming into their small town of River Crest. Their first challengers are Satan’s Soul MC, the club Gunner fled with his baby sister five years ago.

Gunner is VP of Broken Chains, but worries his old club coming after him. Logan is a deaf man working as a dance instructor to Gunner’s sister and also delivers for Broken Chains’ mechanic shop. It’s inevitable the two men will run into each other. Gunner feels an immediate attraction, but knows getting involved with a civilian will put Logan in danger, so he keeps his distance. Logan has no interest in the biker lifestyle, but is intrigued by Gunner nonetheless.

Lindsey fills this MC love story with suspense, moral ambiguity and some violence. Trope-y goodness abounds with opposites-attract, hurt/comfort, close-proximity and even a small dose of single-dad, ‘Tidal Wave’ is a great beginning to what promises to be a wonderful romantic suspense series. I’m looking forward to what Lindey has in store for other club members on their journeys to finding love.

Logan Anare does a very good job with the narration of this book. His interpretation and delivery of the unique personalities of the main characters helps bring Lindsey's story to life.

This audiobook was given to me by request as a free review copy. I’m now submitting a voluntary opinion of it.

Good story. Good narration.

Having grown up in biker gang territory in the 80's, the mystique of MCs is usually lost on me, but Lindsey has an interesting way of putting the counter culture life of a motorcycle club in perspective. The Broken Chains club is one of those groups trying to recover from the unchecked violence of other MCs.

Gunner and Logan have an interesting dynamic, and I appreciate how Lindsey continues to show how conditions seen as disabilities can be assets. I very much enjoyed the way Logan teaches ballet. As a former ballet dancer, I agree with his perspective on music. Tchaikovsky has his place in the ballet world, but dance really could use some music that can be felt!

This was an engaging read with a nicely performed narration. I will be looking for more books narrated by Anare.

Good narration

I thought the narration of the book was good. Sometimes, it can be difficult to listen to narrators perform a child’s voice but this narrator did it very well. The story itself seemed to drag at parts but I enjoyed the narration.

A rough ride

I will admit to not being a huge MC book fan. I can stomach a certain amount of violence. Sometimes it feels excessive. This book did not. The violence was there and was necessary.

Gunnar has had a rough go of life. He was never particularly wanted, never loved, and grew up in the shadow of his father’s MC. When it was discovered he was gay, he was beaten literally to within an inch of his life. Those injuries have remained with him and always will. The light in his life? His sister Maddie. A precocious young girl with a stubborn streak a mile wide. She’s also growing up around bikers, but they are all protective of the little tyke.

Logan is - as self-described - deaf, black, and bisexual. He doesn’t let any of that hold him back. He’s made a good life for himself, well away from his well-meaning family back in Louisiana. Unfortunately he has a run-in with some vicious bikers from another gang and suddenly he’s reliant on the gang he’s been working for to keep him safe.

I loved Logan. He teaches dance despite being deaf. He works a couple of jobs to keep a roof over his head, but never complains about his lack of material things. He adores his students, including Maddie, and has noticed Gunnar. When the two men are thrown together, is it any wonder things get interesting? Then that happiness is shattered by violence, and I wondered how this was going to end. Well. Or as well as can be.

Logan Anare is a new narrator to me and I guarantee I’ll listen to him again. He just suited this series. And there are more books, so I plan to listen to them as well.

It's Okay

A mediocre beginning to a new series, Tidal Wave was just “okay.” I had a hard time believing this was an actual motorcycle club, and I wasn’t sold on all the characters. However, the storyline was still interesting enough to keep my attention until the end.

Exciting, heart-pounding, and romantic

Gunner's story was wonderfully written, with plenty of high-stakes action that I expect from motorcycle club books and E.M.'s unique brand of swoony romance. In comparison to some of their other series, Broken Chains is grittier, more morally ambiguous, and heart-pounding. I loved the change of pace, and it's so exciting to see one of my favorite authors branching out a bit. I honestly could not have predicted how this story would unfold, and I had a pleasant buzz of suspense for most of the second half. In my opinion, this is one of the least romance-centric books E.M. has written, and to me it read more like an action/adventure book with a splash of romance to keep everything balanced out. I'm definitely not complaining about the slow-burn, because the actual storyline was incredibly captivating and I fell in love with all the characters immediately. For how sparse Logan and Gunner's interactions were, their romantic connection was surprisingly deep and convincing. All together, I thought this was an excellent start to a brand new MM romance series from E.M. Lindsey!

Short, fat, tall, thin, tan or light skinned...

I wanna start this by saying below are potential spoilers so don't read if you wanna give the book a go. Its a personal review so your opinion might differ.

SO first off I got sooo confused with the constant explaining of what people looked like, I know Logan was dark skinned but the way it sounded, so was Gunner? Then the love between the Poly deaf dance teacher who worked multiple jobs to get by, falling head over heels for the grungy mechanic biker in a gang without saying GANG, who brought a child to dance class.. Gunner is on the run from his old crew of druggies and abusers, protecting his sister. Still so confused how he thought he was able to provide for her more than there rich sibling who had kids and a huge house.... I know love is more important than money, but what indicated that she wouldn't love her little sister and he would love her enough to not have a safe home for her, as well as, his sister was a lawyer they wouldn't touch, then why was the child with the man they could? Parts dragged on longer than I felt they should, this seems like the writer was going for a star crossed lovers but make it gay, that's fine and dandy cuz we need more stories of gay couples overcoming stuff, but make it realistic... Also Narrator was good, I did notice 2 words he flipped the first letter of, I cant remember which but when you listen you will notice it, Like joy or something, it was around the middle maybe.

I was given this review copy of the audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Good Story Line

This is a slow burn story with action. Gunner and Logan are great characters and come together overcoming obstacles in both of their lives. Gunner's little sister Maddie is a firecracker and makes the story even better.
