About this listen

An exciting adventure series set during the French and Indian War.

Ticonderoga tells the story of Captain William Taylor and his Mohawk scout Degadawidah who are charged to escort Captain Carlton Campbell of the 42nd Highlanders through the dangerous lands of the Huron to Fort Edward, where the British are making plans to march on the French held Ticonderoga. On the journey they meet young orphan Adam Cobbs who receives a baptism by fire in the harsh and bloody wilderness of New York State.

With drums beating and bagpipes wailing, Ticonderoga is a musket blasting adventure on the epic scale that The Colonial Radio Theatre has become known for.

If you could sum up Ticonderoga in three words, what would they be?

Danger Adventure honor

What did you like best about this story?

I loved learning the history of that area of the country, I learned about an area of our great nation that I didnt know much about.Friendships were formed from unlikely sources.Human spirit proved to be what formed our country, sacrifices were made by all.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to several Colonial Radio Theatre productions, This one is my favorite, but thats only because it is the one that got me started listening, CRT has several exciting productions that I love and they are coming out with more all the time.

If you could take any character from Ticonderoga out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Captain William Taylor, (Jerry Robbins) As Captain Taylor Id love to hear storys of his adventures, As Jerry Robbins Id love to know how CRT started. And who and what inspired him to start CRT.

Any additional comments?

Very dramatic keeps you on the edge of your seat never a dull moment.Well written and performed by the whole cast.

What an incredible series; you simply cannot go wrong with these wonderfully engaging stories that feature suspense, high adventure, & human drama.
And a little bit of humor as well.
For the history enthusiast or just a lover of great adventure, Ticonderoga delivers one extremely enjoyable listening experience.

This is a story about the colonial times. some of events mentioned are actually factual, but the story is obviously fictional. the four characters are a good mixture to the story. there is humor but yet seriousness to the story. you will enjoy it!

Just as good as Powder River

If you could sum up Ticonderoga in three words, what would they be?

Lock, Stock, and Barrel. Ticonderoga is a perfect introduction to the French & Indian War.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Ticonderoga?

One of the most memorable moments in Ticonderoga is when the boy Adam realizes what is in the well, and how it effects his life. And how lucky he is to be in the company of men who understand. Brilliantly done CRT.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?

Captain William Taylor performed by Jerry Robbins is my favorite. I can most identify with the character's leadership and how he handles situations and men. I'm a former military man and Mr. Robbins did a thorough and realistic job of portraying his character.

If you could rename Ticonderoga, what would you call it?

Woods Dark and Furious.

What a dramatization! It brings history to life. The French and Indian Wars, the awful reality of Indian attacks, the dread of battle. I felt like I was right there on the battlefield in Chapter 15! This is so well done! If you enjoy history, treat yourself to this. Experience another place and time. This is right up there with “Powder River”! Excellent! One serious suggestion though, as much as I enjoyed this, I was taken aback at the raw brutality at times. Very graphic! For this reason I would not recommend this dramatization for children.

Excellent! But brutally graphic at times!
