About this listen

The FINAL book in The Edge of Retaliation series!!

Dear Fate,

Here I am, finally writing to you again.

Things haven't changed, fate.

Time hasn't healed anything.

As always, nothing makes sense.

Things aren't coming together as they should.

Time has changed us very little.

It has only made everything that much more confusing.

Nothing is fixed.

Nobody is happy.

We still live with a dark cloud over our heads.

A cloud you refuse to clear away.

If only you'd explain yourself.

If only you'd tell me why you picked me?

If only you'd tell me why you took Celia?

If only you'd tell me why you chose Tanner?

If only you'd tell me why this web of lies keeps growing bigger?

Why you can't just let us be?

I have no answers.

I do, however, have so many questions.

Can you answer those for me, fate?

Of course you can't. You want me to figure this out.

To learn some valuable lesson.

How am I to do that, when you keep changing the rules?

No, fate, rules are not meant to be broken.

They're there for a reason.

Stop changing reason.

You can't control everything.

Right....

You can control everything.

You're making sure I know that.

You're making sure I know you're coming for me.

For our final battle.

I'm ready, fate. I'm so ready.

It's time for my freedom.

The freedom we both know I deserve.

I'll get my peace.

Just you wait and see.

Great series!

Omg...I can't even imagine how the h felt doing what she had to 😢 gutted. This was a great conclusion to the series. Loved the realistic conflict between the characters and how the h takes matters into her own hands rather than waiting to be "saved". ❤

If you love angst

Skipped around through all 3 books. All field tests reveal...non-stop high-level angst on a level I've never encountered before. This girl needs some guided meditation, some bipolar meds, definitely some anti-depressants and definitely some inpatient therapy.

Nonsense all three audible books

Not sure .. but what the heck did I just listen too.. it was all over the place.. just a HOT MESS!
Unnecessary drama.. just didn’t really feel the love connection.. didn’t care for Callie.. or Tanner.. I just couldn’t stay engaged.. it says a whole lot when you can skip through the chapters and miss absolutely nothing.. that means there are way too many fillers..
Thank goodness it was free with audible escapes.. because I struggled to finish the series.. matter of fact after the 1st book I would’ve requested my money back.
So to answer the ultimate question it’s not worth a credit..if you want to try it.. get it with audible escapes
Narrator was good..

Fell apart a bit at the end

I really liked the series as a whole, but it's disappointing when a book series start is better than its conclusion. The characters fell apart in book 3. The choices they made didn't make sense. Several really interesting supporting characters were ignored. The villain was not well developed in book 2, where he should have been, and is not in this book either. The story kept hinting he had some insider information or there was more to it... but it was never explained. Why the heck was he so hell bent on tracking this entire group and how did he find all of them? Why did he work to get them together, why not pick them off one by one? The creepy and powerful ex-husband of the supporting lead just disapeared. It was implied Callie's hot new boss was going above and beyond for some reason, and there was attraction, but that was only hinted at as well. The story felt like it was meant to circle around in a bigger way, but it never happened. There is a back story regarding the original, horrific crime against Celia, that does not feel finished. Ethan didn't get the time he deserved, neither did Chase. Many charcters feel like set ups for other books, which is fine, but they needed at least a bit more development in this one so I didn't feel emotionally ripped off. The main characters got whiny... in the first book they came across as intelligent people who faced life events that had large impacts on them. In the 3rd book they came across as thugs (sometimes I love thugs if you mean bad boys and girls, but this was more like dumb and using brawn instead of brain).

If I didn't love book #1 so much, and the narration wasn't EXCELLENT, I would have given a lower rating. There were some writing flaws in #1, like the entire group of men were ALL described as big and muscled and handsome to the point I thought they were going to super-naturals, which they are not. But those items were forgivable because the rest of the story was so great and interesting. For me this book was very disappointing because the end of the first book was so great.
