Publisher's summary

A pessimist at heart, Conor Hudson feels utterly ordinary in a school filled with obscenely wealthy and freakishly gorgeous students. Her only desire is to blend into the background at Westmore Academy, a school for the intellectually-gifted nestled in the historic district of Savannah, Georgia.

A mysterious note found in her locker one rainy day sparks a journey of self-discovery she never imagined possible. Conor discovers the beauty of self-love, lifelong friendships, and unconventional family bonds with the help of a mysterious note-writer and her two best friends, the fiercely loyal Shay Tucker, and the kind, yet perplexing, Noah Grayson.

It doesn’t take long for Conor to question her view of life, allowing new friends (and even a boyfriend or two) to break down her protective walls. As her circle of friends grows, so does her ability to see herself as others do - anything but ordinary. When Conor finally discovers the identity of her mysterious pen-pal, she couldn’t be more surprised. When she learns the deeper reason behind the love letters, she is reconnected with two people she thought she had lost forever.

After the final piece of the puzzle falls into place, her view of life is changed forever - crazy, beautiful, wonderful life. And it all began with a little yellow note.

Loved this story

I really loved the premise of this one and the entire cast of characters. It did keep me guessing for a bit. The narration was done well but there were some minor audio issues throughout but nothing that makes it unbearable.

Sweet Coming-Of-Age Story

I enjoyed this delightful coming-of-age story. Conor, Shay, and Noah became friends after Conor moved in with her grandmother. This was their story: starting at the age of nine, featuring the most about their lives during high school, and then continuing on through some college and beyond. I liked the characters. I appreciated that the characters were believable. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Shannon Dean's narration was fine and kept my attention. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Fantastic High School Romance, Clean Read

Parents- PG- good for middle school to adults
Language- PG- minimal to nonexistent
Violence- PG- nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- PG Kissing, teen romance, mention of having "the talk", an attempted sexual assault, and references to living together but no real details

This is definitely geared to the middle and high school readers although others who like to reminisce on High school will enjoy it too. It's very much a coming of age story with a girl named Conor who's shy and not the most confident. She lives with her grandma because she lost her parents to a car accident and has been dealing with the trauma ever since, but has the support of two really great freinds. There's plenty of rollercoasters in terms of emotions, friendships, dating relationships and family drama. The overall message of friendship, family, and forgiveness was fantastic. Definitely recommend.

Narrator- did a great job with the differentiations and was fun to listen to, there were some sound quality issues but not so bad to distract from the story.

Adorable but heartfelt YA romance

I’ve become a fan of MJ Padgett quickly with her YA books with all of the excitement, joy and energy of teenagers without too much of the overblown drama.
This story was absolutely adorable and a good length. So many times authors seem to pop out book after book with short lengths and minimal story. I found this book to be quite the opposite. The characters were well developed and likable, with quite a number but all pretty memorable. The story was about young love, without the sex and drama that so many other books feel the need to add.
Overall this was a fun and cute romance that YA and grown adults can enjoy! Highly recommended for a feel good book hangover.
