About this listen
Stacey Simms' parenting philosophy is "not perfect, but safe and happy." Does that make her the world's worst diabetes mom? Some people on social media thought so. But her stories and the lessons they impart show that diabetes laughs in the face of perfection. Raising a happy and healthy child with type-one diabetes, as well as any siblings, requires flexibility, planning, and a great sense of humor above all else. It's a journey full of challenges, but you are not alone!

Story
If you’re struggling to stay on top of your to-do list, you probably have a good reason: anxiety, fatigue, depression, ADHD, or lack of support. For therapist KC Davis, the birth of her second child triggered a stress-mess cycle. The more behind she felt, the less motivated she was to start. She didn’t fold a single piece of laundry for seven months. One life-changing realization restored her sanity—and the functionality of her home: You don’t work for your home; your home works for you.

A must read for T1 mommas
This was the first book that allowed me to breathe, laugh and cry after our diagnosis this year. It provided important information in a way that wasnt overwhelming and helped with questions to ask your Endo that applies to your child. It made me laugh with her 'diabetes mistakes' knowing that I wasnt alone and I wouldnt get it right every time. But more importantly, that I could raise a happy and healthy T1 child. 💙

Long time listener
As a Type 2 grand father raising a teen Type 1 diagnosed less than 2 years ago, I found Stacey's stories informative and enjoyable. She was kind enough to provide me the audible at no charge to me. My vision is not what it used to be so listening to her enabled me to better understand what she was saying. Also brought back memories of her days broadcasting over the air on radio. Because of the book I have discovered many other resources of Type 1 information including podcasts, blogs and websites. I believe the sharing of information from experienced parents and professionals, we all can help our loved ones make informed decisions on short and long term care.

Great for New Diagnosis
This was very helpful for me to read just after my son’s T1D diagnosis. I think the main thing I have walked away learning is to focus on my son being “happy, healthy and safe” rather than trying to be perfect.

Exactly what I needed
I listened to this audio on the weekends while walking the dogs and my T1D 4 year old rode his bike in front of me. It was exactly what I needed to hear as a newly diagnosed T1d mom. The stories I could already relate to, I laughed, I cried, and I will maintain the motto of safe and happy. Definitely a must read/listen for newly diagnosed parents!

Learned and Laughed!!
I am not a parent of a child with Type 1 Diabetes, my niece is living with Type 1. I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and LOVED hearing Stacey narrate it herself. I laughed throughout and I even learned a lot that I feel can help me be a more compassionate supportive T1D Aunt and caregiver when called upon. I highly recommend this book!

I wanted to like this
As a mom to a T1D child, wanted to like this book but I had a hard time relating to the author. maybe it's because our journey has been a little on the harder side but this whole book felt like a humble brag.
