Strange but True

This is an interesting collection of "true mysteries" as published in Fate magazine. I am grateful that someone is preserving stories such as these in a collection for modern readers. I can only imagine how it would have been to have read these when they were first published in "Fate"! It is interesting to me to be able to read these classic tales from a bygone era.

Some of the stories were very enjoyable, especially those about ghosts, werewolves, and folk tales of different regions of the world. Others were more dry and clinical in describing phenomenon like ESP, crystal ball readings,hypnotism and séances.

All in all, an entertaining book if you are interested in strange occurrences and what might be all around us in the world. At least, it gives the reader something to think about!

The narrator does a good job and keeps the listener's interest, even during the drier of the tales. I was given the opportunity to listen to this book by the publisher and chose to review it.

Maybe being open minded and a believer in higher powers and more than meets the eye helped me to see the possibilities. I entreat others to take the plunge. Decent stories, just not for me.

Couldn't finish this book.
The stories were okay as a work of fiction. Unfortunately, they were all entirely anecdotal or pseudoscientific theories that I couldn't take seriously as 'true mysteries'. Another type of listener would probably love it.

The narration was fine except for all the words read without contractions that made it sound robotic and was a bit distracting.

DON'T waste your time there are a few stories that I hadn't heard but for the most part it was boring no good insight in the stories .
it just rubbed me the wrong way unfortunately I can't even remember what it was about, that says alot about the book it self, the narration was good , i felt like stories had no heart ,it was random ...
