About this listen

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of fans around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

In this series companion book, the listener will learn about the exotic beasts used by the Seanchan and hear of the rise and fall of Artur Hawking, and peruse the deeper story of the War of the Shadow. Here is the tale of the founding of the White Tower, and the creation of the Ajahs. The inner workings of the closed country, Shara, are revealed, as is the existence of a hitherto unknown continent called The Land of the Madmen.

meh

I like the information in the book I wish it would have been after the series instead of in the middle and I really really wish they would have taken the time to give this guy the proper pronunciation of these words and names

I'm not really sure who this book is meant for

It contains spoilers for nonreaders and only a little new info for finished readers.

The first half is amazing for a finished reader looking to learn more about the world history prior to the books.

The last half is weird because this book was written before the story ends, so you hear about stuff you've already read, AND it's unfinished.

Shannon from Texas

Very informative. Very helpful in closing the gaps of information and explanations of places and lands and the background of the wide variety of races and cultures in the world of the wheel of time.

Lots of information

Gives good back story. Definitely a good read. I would recommend reading at least the first 5 books before reading this.

Super Interesting - But Not For Everyone

I really enjoyed this. My favorite aspect of the Wheel of Time is its world and history, and this book is essentially just a history of that world leading up to the series. Robert Jordan’s imagination truly was unparalleled in modern Fantasy. His creation is rivaled only by Tolkien, in my opinion.

That said, I also totally understand that others may not enjoy the book as much. It takes a unique person - namely a Wheel of Time fanboy/girl that enjoys learning about the history of a completely fictional world.

Do with that what you will.

A must have!

This book is a must own for all WoT fans. It contains spoilers for books 1-6 of the main series and you learn much of what's in those books in this one. This book tells the back story of the second age and what led up to the third age and the Dark One's touch on the world. I recommend the physical book due to the sheer amount of pictures and maps. I read along as I listened.

Great Summary

This provides a great summary and background of the world and I wish I read this after book 5 or 6. There are a few spoilers if you read it too soon, but nothing major.
