Acerca de esta escucha

A stirring and romantic historical novel about nineteenth-century Vienna and the tragedy and dynamic passion that inspired Ludwig van Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.

Vienna, 1800. Countess Julie Guicciardi's life is about to change forever. The spirited eighteen-year-old is taking piano lessons with Ludwig van Beethoven, the most talented piano virtuoso in the musical capital of Europe. She is captivated by his volatile genius, while he is drawn to her curiosity and disarming candor. Between them, a unique romance. But Beethoven has a secret he's yet to share, and Julie is harboring a secret of her own, one so scandalous it could destroy their perfect love story.

When Beethoven discovers the truth, he sets his emotions to music, composing a mournful opus that will become the Moonlight Sonata. The haunting refrain will follow Julie for the rest of her life.

Set against the rich backdrop of nineteenth-century Vienna, The Woman in the Moonlight is an exhilarating ode to eternal passion. An epic tale of love, loss, rivalry, and political intrigue. A stirring portrait of a titan who wrestled with the gods and a woman who defied convention to inspire him.

For what it’s worth I enjoyed the fantasy I enjoyed the authors use of imagination on what the life and loves of the eccentric genius Beethoven may have been like. It was an enjoyable read mixed in with a good used a classical Beethoven knowledge of music and the readers pronunciation of the foreign words was excellent although I didn’t like her voice over for Beethoven or Guliette. The author acknowledges at the end that she took liberties with the story and embellished it quite a bit. That is an understatement

I liked the character of Julie even though some parts were drawn out too much!

The history and information about Beethoven. Very interesting about his music even though his character was somewhat strange.

I loved the whole story, had me on a rollercoaster of all emotions. I love it when an author can take you out of reality and place you into the world they create for the moment. thank you.

Bravo!!!!

The author’s deep understanding of the time in which Beethoven lived is quite amazing, and lends a broad dimension to his amazing life story.

Beethoven, brought to life.

I laughed, I cried, I totally enjoyed this story. The story was so real, the research for this story was so good and the imagination of putting this story together was superb. The narration by Angela Dawe was supportive to the story, all the different dialects were so good. One felt they were there. I do appreciate Chapter 42, telling the end of the story. Chapter 43, telling about the author, her research.. A really really good book!

The narration was great. The story is wonderful! Beethoven has always been my favorite and I've never read anything about Beethoven. Although historical fiction, i thought the depiction of Beethoven was sooo funny, and his nicknanes for funny was hilarious! Loved it! well done!

Great!

I love historical fiction that comes alive. A really good story. Just one tiny thing... someone should have corrected the narrator's pronunciation of "Joachim." She pronounced it "Joe-a-keem" throughout the book. 😶

Good Story
