Publisher's summary

February, 1944. A bitter winter grips occupied France, where Marc Reece leads a circuit of British agents risking their lives in order to sabotage the German war effort from within. But Reece has a second mission, secret even from his fellow agents - including Charlotte, the woman with whom he has ill-advisedly fallen in love. He must secure a document identifying a German spy at the heart of British intelligence. The fate of the Allied forces on D-Day is in his hands.

But when his circuit is ambushed - with fatal consequences - Reece realises there may be a traitor in its ranks, putting everything they've been fighting for at risk. Then Charlotte goes missing. Is she in danger, or has Reece been betrayed by the only person he thought he could trust? And with the clock ticking towards D-Day, can he find the truth before it's too late?

A gripping and atmospheric thriller inspired by true events, this is the story of a deadly game of espionage, destined to change the course of the most crucial battle in the Second World War.

Great WWII Listen!

Nothing bad to say about this one and Jonathon Keeble always impresses.

I kept thinking I was listening to a Indiana Jones war movie (would probably be a great continuation of the series!)

I would recommended it

On the edge of.my seat!

We need more historical fiction by this author. I have read about 200 books on World War II and this is the best novel by far exciting, realistic, accurate facts, and superb writing. And, of course, fantastic narration.

Based on facts

Well written without hyperboles or overly dramatic descriptions, which enhanced it believability. The amazing thing is the last chapter that outlines the facts and characters upon which the story is based. Rubin uses actual names of some of the German actors. Amazing story. Truth IS stranger than fiction. Or, at least often more interesting.

An Interesting Listen

This book as bits and pieces of truth interwoven into the plot to make it interesting. A real WW2 spy thriller with numerous twists and turns, spy’s, counter spy’s and traitors. Narration keeps the book moving along and is well done. If you like a good WW 2 spy thriller, this book will not disappoint.

Fantastic

This was a really great book. I love this genre, WWII and espionage; both fiction or nonfiction; And this historical fiction was well put together. Pacing was great every chapter moved the story along quickly by two or three steps. I'm impressed this was the author's first novel? (a previous book is not available.) Outstanding work and hope to see another one come out soon.

One of best WWII books I’ve read

This is a wonderfully written and narrated book. I have read a number of books about British secret operations during WWII but this is one of the very best. There are so many twists and turns in this story that it never lacks for suspense or drama. Beautifully read. Highly recommended.

Too Much Graphic Torture

The story very good, the narration excellent, but just too much graphic torture for me.
