terrible narrator

I love Mary Roberts Rinehart and have read this story before. I was looking for a familiar story that I could lister to while I finished some mindless tasks. I couldn't even listen through the first chapter. After investigating, I found Deaver Brown has many poor reviews. Why does Audible offer his material? Added to the poor inflection is irritating music in the background!
I fast forwarded to the end so that I could add a review and return the book.
