About this listen
How far would you go to save the people you love?
In a world not divided by race, creed or color, but by blood type, Blue Anders finds herself on the wrong end of fortune's mercy. Born with a lesser blood type, Blue is raised in The Way, a work camp for A-bloods.
Now Blue must fight against and alongside her violent brother to free their people and end the slavery forced upon her family by the blood drinkers. Standing up to her sociopath brother will be difficult, but admitting what she wants when she meets an intriguing man from the ruling class just might be impossible.
If you like dystopia romance, underdog tales, and a female heroine on a mission, this vampire trilogy is the book for you.
"The Way" is book one in a dystopian trilogy, written by USA Today bestselling author Mary E. Twomey. Start a new adventure, and listen to book one today.

To break away from her overbearing brothers, Fallyn O'Keefe opens a bakery to show them she can do it on her own. She thinks her biggest problem will be defending her storefront from the violence of the rival family, who would much rather see her chased back into the east end of the city with the rest of the brawling O'Keefes. When Vince, the older, terrifying head from the enemy family shows up with flowers instead of his gun, Fallyn worries the fighting between her family and his will escalate from fists to firearms.

Story
Life is hard enough for a teenage girl in 1950s suburbia without having a mother who may—or may not—be a witch. A single mother at that. Sure, she fits in with her starched dresses, string of pearls, and floral aprons. Then there are the hushed and mystical consultations with neighborhood women in distress. The unsavory, mysterious plants in the flower beds. The divined warning to steer clear of a boyfriend whose fate is certainly doomed.

Excellent Writing & Naration
Loved this book. I was late for work because I couldn't wait to find out what happened next in the story. The author has made such a great world. I'm hoping we get a little more back story on the history of the world in the second book. One of the best narrators I've heard.

Beautiful
Would you listen to The Way again? Why?
Yes. It is just a beautiful beginning to a deep, dark series with amazing characters that will capture your heart.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Do I have to choose? I loved them all for their own reasons. Blue is a beautiful, deep girl who stole my heart and broke it into little pieces. Baird is a stern jerk who is just trying to figure it all out and do the best he knows how. Gretel is so timid, shy, and mousy. Elle is the best friend we all have who keeps us human. Sam is the dreamy playboy who we would all fall in love with. Liam and Griffin are the brothers we all wish we could have. Fredrick has a heart of gold and Suzette is the party girl I wish I could be. Even Brody, with his sarcastic, hateful attitude took a piece of my heart.
Each character captured my attention and broke my heart at some point in this series or another.
What about Madeline Mrozek’s performance did you like?
The narrator was amazing. She has a voice I could listen to for the rest of my life and she is extremely talented. The accents, the yelling, the whispers, the jibberish, and the voices of each character were flawless. I tend to have a hard time following audiobooks with many characters speaking in a conversation, but she gave each character such a unique voice that it was so easy to follow. You could feel the emotion in her voice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The entire series moved me. Not one single moment. I could not stop listening to it. This series made me laugh and cry and touched my heart in ways I never imagined possible.
Any additional comments?
I got the audiobook with one of my credits on Audible. It sat in my library for quite some time, forgotten about. Last week, I finished the book series I had been listening to. It was 1am, I couldn't sleep, so I turned it on to fall asleep to with very little hope that it would be good. I listened to the prologue. I listened to chapter one. I started drifting off at the beginning of chapter 2. Then... BAM! Blue came to life and captured my attention more than any other book I'd ever read or listened to. The characters throughout this series are deeply developed and are so easy to just fall in love with each of them. This series is so well written and not as patronizing as many other books in this genre. This series is the perfect combination of love, mystery, family, combat, self-doubt, teen angst, fighting with family, and fighting the rest of the world. I laughed, I cried, I felt the pain and anger, and I felt the embarrassment and sheer happiness. If you start this book and are a little iffy at first, give it time, just a little time. The beginning may be just a tad slow, but once it gets going, it just doesn't stop.

Great listen!
Any additional comments?
Great audio books are a combination of a good story and a great narrator. (We all know how a bad narrator can make a good story horrible.) This book was a solid in-the-park home run! In the hands of this narrator, the story came alive. There were many voices in the story line and the narrator managed them all, even those with European accents. My only fault with this book is my dislike of the main character, Blue and her friend, Elle. I won't give away the plot but if someone saves you from a life of servitude, it seems to me you should be a bit more appreciative. Perhaps that's just me.
The post-WWIII world that was created was very intriguing and the story ended with enough elements in place to make you want to listen to the next book, especially if the narrator is the same. All in all, a great listen!!

The narrator...! Amazing!
The story was great but the narrator made it like I was living inside the story. Her ability to capture the personality of each character made the book breathe the story. Awesome adventure in audible lands!

DIFFERENT & GREAT!
I loved this book & rewind was up-most on my agenda. The world building was the best. Power, as usual, is the motivation for this world but rather than race being one of the dividers to who has the power; it is blood type that denotes that power. This is one girl's or rather one family's story in a world that has told them their blood type is the wrong one to be powerful and yet it is much, much more than that.
The narrator was spot on.
Before purchasing, there is a trilogy of this series that can be bought for 1 credit & I wish I had found it before purchasing the single book. I rectified that immediately midway through the book.
