Publisher's summary

In 2001, The Voice of the Heart began a steady journey into the lives of those looking for more. Since its initial release, The Voice of the Heart has been handed from one friend to another and has helped thousands of people begin to speak the truth of their story and to live more fully from the heart.

Chip Dodd invites us to begin to know our hearts so that we better know ourselves and can live fully in relationship with others and, ultimately, with God.

The journey begins with discovering the gift of the eight feelings. We have eight feelings that allow us to live fully in a tragic place - hurt, lonely, sad, anger, fear, shame, guilt, and glad. By listening to these eight God-given tools, we can be who we are made to be so we can do what we are made to do.

Highly recommend this book. It’s a working book you want to keep out to refer back to.

Questions answered

This book has answered so many questions. I ended up ordering the paper back book and working through the the free guide from Chip Dodds website. I don’t regret having the audio version as a companion bc it reinforces what I’ve read.

true reflection

I love this book. As I go through life and experience my own failures and death in my family, a recognition of how powerless I feel to accept things I now regret became real. This book taught me how to be honest with my feelings, trust others whom God has sent my way and to ultimately trust God.

Connection to God

In recommend this book to anyone looking to connect closer to those around them and most importantly connecting to their deeper relationship with Christ. As you go through the 8 feelings it will create a deeper understanding of yourself as it relates to Christ. A great book to help guide everyday life’s ups and downs.

This book has been transformative

I’ve been going through this book with my counselor. I can’t stress how much more helpful it is to interact with this book and the questions with someone else.

The audiobook is nice to be able to refresh my memory and I appreciate being able to hear the book from the author’s own voice. That being said, I’ve found the physical copy more helpful.

Feel your feelings
Speak your truth
Find full living

Those three phrases sum up the book. It is written from a perspective that we are made in the image of God and that the 8 emotions can lead to either impairment OR blessing.

It has fundamentally shifted the way that I think about emotions (mine and others) and how learning to be mindful of my emotions can stop the destruction to relationships that I have suffered and inflicted on others over the years.

Superb.

I praise the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ for this book, by Chip Dodd. It was so informative, but concise. Thank you.

Insightful Writing on the Heart

I was introduced to Chip’s work through a men’s group, and this was my first chance to dive into the material via audio. The content is exceptional. I never understood the value of feelings, but rather spent most of my life being ashamed of them and suppressing them. This led to an unfulfilled life. I’m eager to take these teachings and live with my emotions vs. disregarding their dignity. Highly recommended.

Freeing & a Work to Heal

My counselor suggested this book to me because I like to stuff and hide my feelings to protect myself from others’ judgement. This book is necessary and so helpful. The author reads it like he is speaking as a caring mentor. It is just healing if you are looking to open up your eyes to your heart.
