About this listen
For Clementine Haas, finding herself is more than a nice idea. Ever since she woke up in an Irish hospital with complete amnesia, self-discovery has become her mission.
They tell her she's the lone survivor of a plane crash. They tell her she's lucky to be alive. But she doesn't feel lucky. She feels...lost.
With the relentless Irish press bearing down on her, and a father she may not even recognize on his way from America to take her home, Clementine assumes a new identity and enlists a blue-eyed Irish stranger, Kieran O'Connell, to help her escape her forgotten life...and start a new one.
Hiding out in the sleepy town of Waterville, Ireland, Clementine discovers there's an upside to a life that's fallen apart. But as her lies grow, so does her affection for Kieran, and the truth about her identity becomes harder and harder to reveal, forcing Clementine to decide: Can she leave her past behind for a new love she'll never forget?

Story
June Merriweather is on the run—from her own life. Her brother is dead, her parents are liars, and her college major is a joke. Apart from her best friend, Matt, June is desperate for reinvention. And a one-way ticket out of Cincinnati to the Scottish Highlands is a good place to start. With a backpack, an urn, and a secret, June begins again. She snags a job at a café and finds lodging at a quaint inn with a quirky cast of housemates. The only problem: the inn’s infuriatingly perceptive (and sexy) owner, Lennox. He’s suspicious of June.

He’s exiled the family to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, to erase a big secret from Esther’s past. So much for the truth. Samson and Beyah have nothing in common on the surface. She comes from a life of poverty and neglect; he comes from a family of wealth and privilege. But one thing they do have in common is that they're both drawn to sad things. Which means they're drawn to each other. Beyah and Samson agree to stay in the shallow end of a summer fling. What Beyah doesn't realize is that a rip current is coming, and it's about to drag her heart out to sea.

An excellent winter read.
A young American woman is the sole survivor of a small airplane crash that leaves her in an Irish hospital. Clementine is desperate to find out who she is and whom she would like to become. She goes out to find herself amongst the people of Ireland.
I loved this book for its characters and how Clementine affects their lives and they affect her life. Her complete fear of being not enough for her family or those around her makes her into someone that gives of herself unconditionally. If you are going to find yourself, doing it in the beautiful countryside of Ireland is the perfect place. There is magic alive and well in the people.
The narrator sometimes makes me crazy as I have heard her many times before, but this was excellent. Her halting and often flat reading was perfect for someone that doesn't know what to think. In fairness, the narrator isn't flat all the time and nor is she a poor narrator. It is just my personal preference and this story was a perfect fit for her.

AS MUCH FOR ADULTS AS YOUNG ADULTS
I really liked this book. This is a YA book but it would appeal to adults as well. It has much more substance than even the average adult romance book. There are some deep thoughts and difficult issues in here, and the twisty climax took me by surprise which almost never happens.
Jane Doe (Clementine) loses her memory after a plane crash and tries in her own way to find it again. While doing so she is given a rare opportunity to redefine herself and learn who she wants to be, not just who she is. She looks at herself with a clean slate and is given valuable insights from her friend Kieran. Kieran is on a journey of his own and in helping Jane, he confronts his own issues as well.
I love the insights in this book and I love the beautifully painted picture of Ireland. It was a really delightful, compelling read. Highly recommend.

Captivating roller coaster ride of life.
I'm new to audible and listening to audio books. I've held onto enjoying the experience of reading with the actual book in my hands or reading on my kindle tablet. This is my second audio book that I have listened to. The first book was a good mystery thriller. Total opposite of this book genre. Now on with it. This story's opening was intriguing and held my attention to the last chapter. I truly enjoyed the characters in the story especially Steven and Clive. Also, the honesty the story expressed about life's unpredictability in everything we know called life. Each character has their own personal life story. People can relate to experiencing life's ups and downs with growing up, discovering one's self, friendship, relationships, family matters, and of course falling in love. All is interconnected like an intricate web. Each web unique to the person who spins its thread. I do thoroughly always enjoy a happy ending. Especially, an unexpected one. The performance of the Audible narrator was spot on and helped to bring vivid pictures of what they were describing to life in my minds eye as if I was watching it play out like on a TV or movie theater screen. Her tone was pleasing and her various voice inflections to match the characters made the story entertaining and enjoyable. Glad I selected this book. I look forward to discover more books by the same author and to continue being an Audible and Kindle book reader.

Too angsty for me
It's not a terrible story, just too much angst for me. Young Adult audience will probably like it. Main character made some very childish decisions which I suppose is to be expected from an 18 year old. At the same time though, you see the characters aware of the lessons they're learning... I turned it off once the twist I saw coming was confirmed.
