Publisher's summary

Layla Robinson is not crazy. She is suffering from unrequited love. But it's time to move on. No more stalking, no more obsessive calling.

What she needs is a distraction. The blue-eyed guy she keeps seeing around campus could be a great one - only he is the new poetry professor - the married poetry professor.

Thomas Abrams is a stereotypical artist - rude, arrogant, and broody - but his glares and taunts don't scare Layla. She might be bad at poetry, but she is good at reading between the lines. Beneath his prickly façade, Thomas is lonely, and Layla wants to know why. Obsessively.

Sometimes you do get what you want. Sometimes you end up in the storage room of a bar with your professor and you kiss him. Sometimes he kisses you back like the world is ending and he will never get to kiss you again. He kisses you until you forget the years of unrequited love; you forget all the rules, and you dare to reach for something that is not yours.

the author uses the word unrequited too often

Overall the book held my attention. There were several times I thought about calling it quits but then something would happen that would propel me to continue on. My biggest issue with this book would be the unlikability of the characters especially the male love interest, Thomas. I think the writer wanted to portray Thomas as a romantic lost and broken soul but he just comes off as rude selfish uncaring and apathetic. Nevertheless if you like raunchy forbidden love teacher student stories you will enjoy this book.

I enjoyed it except for the last sex scene

What did you like best about this story?

Great story. Great narrators

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved how I had a love hate relationship I had with Thomas. For most of the book I wondered how he’d be redeemed and worried what about the damage he was doing to Layla.

Any additional comments?

I really thought the last full sex scene did a disservice to the story. Though I understood some of the motivation for it, I felt it was more for the salicious aspect than furtherance of the story. Otherwise, I felt the sex scene were piviotal to the storyline.

BE STILL MY HEART

This book really caught my heart in a way that I did not anticipate. When it all boils down, all we crave is acceptance and love and that is what this book is about. WOW

the most intense love story

This is a slow burn. Burn is not even a good enough word, more like inferno. This is so not the normal love story. The FMC is the stocker, and she is a little bit crazy. The intensity between Layla and Thomas is off the charts. Hang on for a hell of a ride.

Forbidden

Hot student/teacher romance that is forbidden in more ways than one. The heroine has issues she is aware of and she is actively trying to work on. I liked her despite her slightly obsessive tendencies. I felt for the hero for reasons I can't disclose without spoiling! He is an a**hole but for some reason I fell for him anyway. The story is steamy and angsty.

Narration was perfect! Love Anna's voice.

Erotic, Intelligent, Heart-wrenching Consuming 🔥

This book is one of the best written love stories on Amazon right now, hands down. It’s definitely a re-readable book, demanding that you lose yourself in the compulsive relationship between these two tortured souls, desperately seeking comfort and solace with one another. I, however, appear to be in the minority in thinking the narration could have been so much better than it was performed by both the female and male readers. This book is good enough to own both the kindle and the audible versions, no doubt. But I felt like both narrators rushed their readings, and failed to lend the deeper notes and tones of conflict and abject lust the characters were written with. Saffron Kent is an amazing talent at capturing both the height and depth of ecstatic love. I hope she chooses different narrators for her next conversion to audiobook.

Cheating but hear me out

This was done in a really good way, I think. I love the happy ending. This has many broken people in this story. It was gripping from the start.

This is not what I expected

This is the type of book most don’t like because of the trope. I get it. However I forgot about that and focused on the characters. They were so complex and interesting, yet chicken shit.
HEA yes, but is it?

A Breathtaking Story of Finding Love

I’ve heard so many great things about this book. This was my first read by Author Saffron Kent and the hype definitely was justified.
This is a powerful story. It’s tragic yet beautiful. It’s passionate, scorching hot and sexy as all get up.
This story was consuming!!!
Thomas is a poetry professor and is dealing with personal issues that make him take his frustrations out on his students. He’s cocky, rude, and completely unattainable.
When Layla happens to pass Thomas she can’t help but be captured by this mans presence.
Something in him calls to her on an entirely different level.
Unable to stay away, Layla decides to take this professors poetry class where she soon discovers that mister tall, dark, and handsome is also mister one hundred percent married!!
As Layla battles her own demons she finds comfort in a slow building friendship she’s developed with Thomas. But as Thomas faces issues at home, he begins to find what his missing at home, with his young beautiful student.
This is a whirlwind romance that digs deep in your gut with feelings that will make you think. Emotions that will make your heart race and your palms sweat.
I highly enjoyed this story and loved the authors style of writing. It’s smooth and fulfilling. The words flow and the plot is unique. Author Saffron Kent definitely created a work of art. Absolutely Beautiful.

Heartbreakingly good!

This dark, forbidden teacher-student listen was just perfect. The narration was wonderful. The chemistry, the suffering, the angst was palpable. My heart broke for Layla and Thomas. One of my favorite books of all time. Listen NOW!!
