Publisher's summary

This brand-new unabridged audiobook of The Two Towers, the second part of J. R. R. Tolkien’s epic adventure The Lord of the Rings, is read by the BAFTA award-winning actor, director, and author Andy Serkis.

The company of the Ring is torn asunder. Frodo and Sam continue their journey alone down the great River Anduin - alone, that is, save for the mysterious creeping figure that follows wherever they go. This continues the classic tale begun in The Fellowship of the Ring, which reaches its awesome climax in The Return of the King.

Fantastic!

This narrator is very good. Sounds just like Golem in the movies! 10/10, 5/5

I can't stop listening

I've read The LOTR at least eight times. I had also purchased the older narrated version, which was fairly well done. I decided to listen to a sample of the newer Andy Serkis version...and I was hooked. I feel like I'm reading books that I've read before, but new. Only get these if you're ready to binge listen, and want to fall asleep dreaming about Middle Earth, Hobbits, Dwarves, Elves, Wizards, Valiant Hero's, and terrible evil.

Wow!

I'm sad that Peter Jackson had Frodo banish Sam at the stairs knowing that they were together in the tunnels. The book gives Frodo more respect and makes Sam look more like a hero than the movies.

Andy Serkis should be the only one to read these!

I listened to The Fellowship of the Ring read by another narrator. Andy Serkis really makes these books come to life! outstanding performance.

Great narration

Still part of the best series ever written. I love to reread/listen to it regularly. This is a great narration.

Andy Serkis is amazing

this was a delight to listen to. Serkis's voice talent, including Gollum/Smeagol and all characters is amazing.

Best audio version with Andy Serkis

The LOTR is one of the best stories ever written. These books engage my heart, soul and mind like no other books. In The Two Towers, we read about the hunt for Merry and Pippen, the rising of the Ents, the redemption of King Theoden of Rohan, the destruction of Isengard, and how Gollum guided Frodo and Sam to the brink of Mordor. I read LOTR through every few years and each time I read it something else stands out for me. This time, I was struck by how Saruman represents Western civilization, beginning as one of the wise council, before being seduced by pride, power and technology. Also, I read about Sam’s choosing right at the end the day before the Fourth Sunday of Advent when we remember the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sam, like Mary, was a humble servant who had not put himself forward but was called to take on a task beyond imagining, who courageously said yes. If you haven’t yet read LOTR you really should. This version, read by Andy Serkis is a “must listen”. Even if you have the series read by another narrator, you should really also listen to this version. Serkis does an incredible job with the characters, and especially (of course) with Gollum.
