 The Minor Prophets are called “Minor” because their prophecies were short, not because they were any less important. The Jews paid special attention to these Scriptures and compiled them in one Book as they have a common goal. They did tackle the dark period that the kingdoms of Judah and Israel had lived through. They covered the time before, during and after the Assyrian captivity of Israel as well as the Babylonian exile of Judah. The Minor Prophets focused on the wonderful Kingdom of God. As they reveal the vulnerabilities of all the classes of the Jewish people. They also reveal the weaknesses of every human soul. Their goal is not defamation, but to urge everybody to seek the Savior, the King, the Groom and the Heavenly Physician. Only He can forgive sins, embrace, redeem and heal the human soul. And, He could establish His Kingdom within us, His holy and glorious Church. On the other hand, the Major Prophets focused on the Person of God, although God’s Kingdom and Person are inseparable. The Books of Minor Prophets are: 1. Hosea 2. Joel 3. Amos 4. Obadiah 5. Jonah 6. Micah 7. Nahum 8. Habakkuk 9. Zephaniah 10. Haggai 11. Zechariah 12.
