Experience the awesomeness of my unexpected voyage to an undiscovered land where I survive shipwrecks, arena death match spectacles, rampaging rhinoceraptors, naked and rather surly giants, and even dragons! Well, a dragon.... All in my pursuit of fame and glory.

Every word of it is true. Totally true. How do I know? Because it's all about me. Gustav Gustavson, Legendary Viking Warrior.

Reminds me of Groo and the spongebob episode where he met the Vikings

A truly entertaining tale of a legendary Viking from
His own perspective. The tale reminds me of Groo and the episode of spongebob where he met the Vikings. It is a truly fun and crazy fast paced romp through an imaginative history based in fact and fiction both and blended to be as entertaining as possible for any and all ages. The tale
Is told with a great accent and wonderful enthusiasm. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

charming mayhem

Light reading where gung ho gets the job done. Freshly original characters, and original solutions. Not your average, same old same old trudge that most quests turn out to be.

Unlike others I didn't find it laugh out loud humorous, but it was fun to listen to.

would definitely like to hear more from this author.

A comedy from the ages bygone

Dear god. I had to stop listening to this at work because I burst out laughing so hard that I was annoying people, and I work at a funeral home. That came at the very beginning when the Great Gustav started naming his titles, and he got to Gustav the Hyperbolist. From there I was just wrecked. This book is better than most comedies I have ever seen. It never lets up and you will be sucked into it.

It reminded me a little of the movie Eric the Viking (in a good way) way more than the tv show Vikings. Hobbes just absolutely comes out all of his guns blazing, and each one of them has a flag that pops out and says "BANG!" on it. His writing style is brilliant, and one must wonder who his comedic inspirations are.

The real star of this show, however, is Basil Sands. Dear Lord, that man IS Gustav. His accent, intonations, and cadence just nail the character. His accent is brilliant, and the way he emphasizes certain words only makes the punchlines even funnier.

Whether it is possible or not, I would love to get more of Gustav's adventures. This is one of those books you'll need to relisten to, just to catch all the jokes you missed the first time through because you laughed too hard.

This book is almost as awesome as Gustav!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

OK, this was a hilarious and entertaining story. The narrator knocked this one out of the park, too. Gustav is so narcissistic but still absolutely likable. Think Ash from the Evil Dead series but a viking. If you like a little cornball humor with your roguish viking adventure, this book is for you!

Fun and entertaining

Gustav is a funny character who kept me entertained from the moment he started talking. This wasn't at all what I was expecting but I have to say I really enjoyed it. He is a fun Viking warrior full of himself and immediately likable. His adventures were both exciting and funny at the same time. His companions on this journey brought a lot to the story. The narration was also excellent! "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

Excellent book, delightful, nice, easy, humorous. Nice break from what I've been reading, refreshing. Thanks for letting us into Gustav's life.

Good and chuckle worthy

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Overall it is quite forgettable, but I was happily entertained for the entire duration.

This book is not exactly what I was expecting, and probably not what you are expecting. It does not follow an incompetent viking, but instead a quite capable one that sticks to his code. It just so happens he runs into quite a few ridiculous situations. You know, like hitting on a giantess, or throwing tiny little elves over undead armies, you know, things that make you laugh. Oddly enough, now that I think about, it stays pretty grounded to normal physics. Other than the dragon. And the magic. and the clever half-orc. And the fountain of youth. Yeah, other than those.

I recommend this book if you like fantasy a laugh out loud humor.

Captivating, Interesting

The Totally True Adventures of Gustav Gustavson: Legendary Viking Warrior was written by Morgan Hobbes. The narration is provided by Basil Sands. The audiobook is produced by Morgan Hobbs with a running time of 5 hours and 46 minutes. During that time you will get to hear the Amazing True Adventures of Gustav Gustavson. For me, this was a laugh out loud good time.

Gustav gives nods in the opening to other Great Viking Warriors that the listeners would be familiar with including Ragnar Lothbrook from History Channels Viking’s. Yet he insists his deeds are still the greatest. Losing his ship he ends up in a strange land where he is unknown. This is a shock for poor Gustav as he is sure his deeds are known far and wide. Things turn crazy and the fun really starts for the listener as the story really begins.

This audiobook held my attention thru the entire production. This is one of those rare productions that will have an effect on the audience where they either love or loathe the audiobook. For me, I was hooked. This book just grabbed me and I was thinking of the greatest elements of Monty Python and Mel Brooks in their prime. Politically correctness was not a valve to censor humor. Gustav is just one of those rare characters that is some much fun to follow on his adventures as he travels with this friends on their quest.

The narration by Basil Sands was interesting. Some people have really seemed to dislike his performance of Gustav. I really enjoyed. I think many people expect the Nordic Accent to be what is seen on television and movies. As someone who grew up in Minnesota and stayed until I was 30, the people with the last name of Gustavson sounded like the character. So that is my normalcy bias showing thru. The narrator did an excellent job with all the characters in the story. Each was given a unique voice. This was the first performance that I have heard from Mr. Sands but I truly enjoyed the work he did throughout the entire production. The publisher for this audiobook is Morgan Hobbs. The production value of this audiobook is excellent. The production value is of the highest quality. I heard no problems during the entire performance. There were not any detectable flaws that I was able to hear during the entire performance. I did not hear any loops, breaks, or buzzing. The production was crisp and clear.

Totally True? Perhaps. It’s worth a listen regardless.

Bwahahaha. Sorry, still snickering from the tale. Gustav Gustavson is a modest and humble Viking and .... wait... I just made myself laugh. Gustav is the opposite of humble. At the beginning of this story, he comes across as cocky and self absorbed. However, as he narrates his journey and makes friends along the way, he is a bit more likeable. In fact, some of his brashness actually ends up helping him and his companions from time to time. Bu, following Gustav is a hoot. His discriptions are um ... interesting to say the least. He enters a land of giants who are hanging his out in all their glory. Yup! Imagine what kind of descriptions could portray this scene - and bits and bobs of this scene. If you are grinning right now, you are on the right track. His accidental landing in this odd country ended up as a quest, actually 2 quests. He is a Viking if old from the time of Odin, Thor and Loki. This new land has never heard of these gods; however, he meets creatures and beings he thought were only myth and legend. He befriends a couple of elves, a half orc and magic queen. He fights a rhinoceptor and barbarians. If you feel like sitting back and relaxing (or doing monotonous chores) Join
Gustav on his quest. The time will be well spent and you will end up teeheeing at the end as well. Basil Sands does a great job narrating and bringing the characters to life with unique voices and accents. He helped enhance the story. I was given this book, at my request, in exchange for a fair review.

Phenomenal Performance!

I'm not going to summarise the story, because in all honesty, it's way better to go into this with no prior knowledge!!

This was such a fun and entertaining read!! Gustav was absolutely hilarious. He thinks of himself as the best at everything and he thinks everyone knows him or has at least heard of him and his greatness. Despite him being so cocky, he is still a very likable character because it isn't a brashy cockiness, it's more that he is so sure of his abilities and himself and doesn't care what anyone else thinks.

This was also packed with adventure and different creatures. Gustav even manages to find himself in the midst of naked giants, being put into a fight to the death and also facing a dragon, all of which is no problem for the majestic Gustav!!

In all, this was an easy book to listen to and one that had me smiling the whole way through. I really really hope we get more adventures from Gustav!

The story may have been great, but the performance by Basil Sands was phenomena! He nailed Gustav and his innocent attitude. His tones and accents were brilliant and made for effortless listening. He brought this book to life!! It sounded like he had fun with this book too because you could hear the humour in his voice.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
