The author's use of the oral-history format, with its shifting voices and points of view, is a stroke of genius: the reader is in a state of near-constant confusion at the beginning, which is slowly replaced by unease and then dread as the various commentators start to see the bigger picture. ... but it never did. I usually enjoy slow, creeping horror, but this was just slow and dull. The story never took off and there was never any real payoff to listening until the end. Narration was okay, but white Brits imitating stereotypical Japanese and South African accents is... uncomfortable.

A wonderful if not flawed commentary on modern society's penchant for drama, melodrama and hysteria. From the word "go" you know this isn't going to work out well for "The Three" or anyone connected with them. Sarah does a wonderful job of capturing each character's flaws while still making them appealing.
