The Tempest Tales, an Essence Book Club Recommended Read, features Tempest Landry, a black man shot down by an over-eager cop. But that's not the end of the line for Tempest. Great suspense

Humor and humanity mixed with dread. Really drawn into the characters and story. Detente gets a new context

Interesting

I had a great time listening to this modern tale of good vs evil. Mr. Mosley did a great job encapsulating this idea. Looking forward to listening to more novels from Walter Mosley.

I’m Sorry to this Man, but Where Have I BEEN!?!

This author, his style of writing, and his story were completely unknown to me before Masterclass. (He’s incredible!) As a young Black woman who has focused on female authors of color, I missed out, and I don’t know how, but this was a treat. I will absolutely be reading more by Mr. Mosley.

What is the difference between Heaven and Hell

Excellent, this book was so thought provoking. Things that are right can also be wrong. Question, what decides heaven and Hell

Another Great Creation

Another great creation from Walter Mosley. I have seen movies and read many books on peoples account about the after life this was the best. Great novel. I even read the book while it was playing.

Worth every second

Great listen. Could not tear away from the story and the narration. Truly a philosophical masterpiece in words and images.

very fun

Theology and philosophy usually aren't fun, but the gifted Walter Mosley found a way.

This is a lot of fun and also thought provoking. If you liked The Good Place, this is for you. If you questioned too much in Sunday school, this is also for you.

Not What I Expected

However I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed it immensely! Every time I thought I knew what was coming next, I was wrong. The author gave me 2 characters to like and I didn’t dislike or even loathe the devil. How could I? He was just doing what devils do! Tempest is the most cunning of them all. Even when he’s been judged as wrong, you still have to convince him! Regarding the narrator, I didn’t like him initially, especially when he would describe John Angel as having a strong baritone voice (which he does not have) but over the course of the story, he became Tempest and Angel!! Simply put, I loved this! Thank you for sharing your gift Mr. Mosley!!
