Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

Hey, I'm Jamie, a 29-year-old trans guy from the UK. I've been transitioning for 12 years now after realising I was trans (by accident!) at sixteen years old. I knew I was a boy since the age of four, but realised whilst growing up that I was different. It was only in my teens that I found the words to express who I was and what I needed to do. Since then, I've been on testosterone for more than a decade - I know, I can't believe it either - I've also had top and bottom surgery and legally changed my sex, so I know a few things about the transitioning process and being trans!

I want to welcome you to The T in LGBT where you can explore and learn about so many topics surrounding gender identity: realising you're trans, starting hormones, considering surgery, and everything in between. Whether you're questioning your own identity and are looking for advice on certain stages of transition, or whether you're wanting to learn about the trans experience to support someone or understand allyship, I hope this book can be your one-stop guide to everything trans related.

And don't just take my word for it either - this book is packed full of advice, tips, and the personal stories of a range of trans voices, because no one journey is the same.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Great straightforward resource

I loved the book and only wish I had been able to read it earlier in my transition process for a better idea of what was coming and maybe so my partner would have had a better idea as well.

Informative and heartfelt, surprisingly confirming.

I was interested in reading this after I learned of it from Jamie's videos, which I started watching somewhat recently. I am an older egg, and decided to look my feelings in the face and celebrate my first birthday. I'm not meaning to info dump, but I've been avoiding acknowledging this possibility for myself for a long time and this book made me cry multiple times. Happy or sad I'm not actually sure but it made me very emotional, which feels like it assured me of my feelings.
There is a lot of very useful information in good order, written in an enjoyable and personal way. I also like the additions of tips for both trans people and allies, and gave this to my mother as well so that she can have a concise source of information. I'm not in the UK so some of this information isn't useful for me personally, but I think it's wonderful that you could help spread information you yourself had trouble accessing.
Additionally, I listened to this as an audio book at work. I don't know if this is common practice or not but I appreciate that this was narrated by Jamie himself, and Shaba.
Thank you

Gentle introduction

I'm familiar with the author through his work on YouTube. I was glad to see that an audiobook version of his first book was available. I found it a gentle overview and would recommend it as a friendly introduction to trans issues. As a member of this community, there was nothing here that was new to me, but I'm happy to support it as another accessible and positive addition to resources for allies and new or questioning LGBTQ folks. I hope Jamie continues to provide education and advocacy for this community and look forward to his future works.

Very informative

I’ve been subscribed to Jamie’s channel for a couple of years as an ally, and quite enjoyed this book. His and Shaaba’s calm and intelligent vibe makes it even better. I really do hope it will serve its purpose and help those who need it.

Trans voices need to be heard

I am really gratrful to see content like this on Audible. The voices and experiences of trans people have been ignored for so long and blatantly disregarded by the current moral panic that seeks to eliminate our existence. Content like this shows the reality of the trans experience, rather than filtering it through a cisnormative and propagandist lens. If you want to hear from actual trans people and what our experiences are like, then I highly recommend this book.

Helpful and Concise

Loved that Jamie narrated the book himself with Shabba. The tips are helpful for allies and I may loan my paper copy out to family members.

The best book on Trans-life out there.

The author is intelligent, funny, and informative. Totally recommend this book both for allies and people who identify as transgendered. Finally a comprehensive book especially for people living in the United Kingdom.

Not just info

Even for me as the spouse of an enby, there’s so much useful information. But beyond that, the book is funny, touching, relatable, hopeful, and even joyful. I feel like a have a few more friends helping me help my love on their journey. Thank you Jamie and Shaaba.
