About this listen

When their daughter goes off to college, Samuel and his wife Gayle begin to take stock of their lives. Realizing they’re best friends and not in love with one another, the two agree to an amicable split. Nervous about jumping back into the dating world, they accept a friend’s invitation to attend a swap party.

Tossing their keys into a bowl and leaving it up to fate to decide who they’re paired with is too tempting to resist. But when Samuel is faced with an audacious young man who strikes up a conversation, the attraction to men he’s kept buried for so long comes rushing back.

At 22 years old, Oliver Hughes is one of the most sought after male models in the world. Sassy and bold, with a penchant for wearing high heels and a touch of makeup, Oliver’s life is what he always dreamed it could be. Except for one thing....

Yearning to fall in love and settle down, Oliver’s grown bored of meaningless hookups with shallow, fame seeking guys. While attending a swap party, his last-ditch effort to find someone who doesn’t know who he is when they meet, Oliver finds himself drawn to a handsome, older man. One who’s endearingly unaware of his own appeal.

As their relationship grows, something sinister and dark threatens what they’ve managed to build. What will it take for Oliver and Samuel to survive, and is their happily ever after doomed from the start?

wow what a surprise

I have to admit that I never actually read this book prior to the audio. I am now kicking myself for not reading it sooner. Oliver and Samuel had such a great relationship and I loved every minute of this book.

Perfect

I like the low level of conflict and angst in Annabella’s stories. So while usually the idea of a swap party might have me nervous I didn’t have that problem with this book. I love Michael Pauley’s narration as always.

Sexy and Mysterious twist

I'm a huge Annabella Michaels fan so I love her books. This one was a bit of a surprise...different from what I've come to expect. The title alone had me second guessing the book, but as I got into the story I became intrigued. I ended up falling in love with both characters. Michael Pauley was the narrator this book and he is one of my fav narrators. This time was no different. I loved the way he brought Samuel and Oliver's characters to life. I loved the chemistry between those two....the way their relationship was not rushed. Their feelings for each other developed and evolved over time. I also loved the way our narrator morphed into the the twisted killer. I gave this story a 4.5 and the performance a 5.
p.s. I loved Oliver's high heels!

listening is just as good as reading

Micheal paisley just brought Samuel and oliver to life for me. I loved reading the story but to have it narrated by Micheal just brought it to life for me, it just seems to enhance the story more.
Loved it can't wait for more.

Samuel & Oliver

This was my first book by this author, so when the audio came out I grabbed it right away! Samuel and Oliver's story had some of my favorites tropes in first time gap and age gap, which made this a must-read/listen for me. I also loved the premise of this book - dropping your keys into the bowl and swapping out partners for the night! When Samuel first laid eyes on Oliver he was immediately drawn to him, which is what brought him back a second time - to seek out the man he couldn't get off his mind. I liked that Oliver felt the same pull to Samuel, which had him dragging his tired self out to another party. I loved the super hot chemistry between Samuel and Oliver. I felt the relationship between Samuel and Oliver developed so organically, and didn't feel rushed. I appreciated how they faced obstacles together, and the realism portrayed of those obstacles. The narration of this by Michael Pauley was fantastic as always, and truly brought these wonderful characters to life! I know this will be a re-listen of mine!

Awesome!

Another great one for Annabella and Michael Pauley! Sam and Oliver are opposites and this great narration brought the best parts of them out. Tone was smooth and fit the reactions for their story in a fantastic way. If you loved the ebook you'll fall in love all over again with their voices.

Great story

I loved this book when I read it last year and was excited to get to listen to the audiobook. I loved Sam and Oliver and how well they fit together so quickly but also let things build naturally. It was great that Sam and Gayle were able to keep their friendship even after separating. I think Oliver is adorable, if a little naïve and trusting but works hard for what he wants.

I enjoyed listening to the audiobook, however I was not a fan of the voice used for Oliver, to me it made him seem like an airhead and that isn’t how I interpreted or pictures his character at all. I could feel his and Sam’s connection and how much they cared through their actions though.

I received a copy of this book and am giving an honest review.

The Best

I loved this book when I first read it and the audio takes it to another level. I thoroughly enjoyed Michael Pauley's narration and how easily he brought the characters off the page.

I will definitely be listening to this book again.
