We live in a world that’s obsessed with talent. We celebrate gifted students in school, natural athletes in sports, and child prodigies in music. But admiring people who start out with innate advantages leads us to overlook the distance we ourselves can travel. We underestimate the range of skills that we can learn and how good we can become. We can all improve at improving. And when opportunity doesn’t knock, there are ways to build a door.

Story
Years ago, after suffering a humiliatingly large dumb tax, it dawned on me that I have a seemingly unlimited ability to hit unforced errors and sabotage my business and financial success. I suspect you do, too. It turns out that the key to getting rich (and staying that way) is to avoid doing stupid things. I don't need to do more smart things. I just need to make fewer dumb mistakes. The vast majority of our dumb tax is a direct result of emotional, overly optimistic, and poorly thought out decisions.

A most necessary guide for getting it done
As an attorney 33 years and financial planner for 23 years, I have experienced the repeated frustration of having created "The best laid plans" including drafting of documents, complete with valuations and Insurance policy illustrations, only to see the plans disintegrate from inaction. I have seen firsthand the devastating effects of inaction, watching family members litigate their legacies into Bankruptcy and dissolution.
This experienced author sets forth a process to overcome the psychological issues preventing completion and execution of the plan.
It is a must read for anyone practicing in the area of succession planning.
The documents mean nothing if they are never signed. This book will help you get it done.

A Must Read for Business Owners
The Succession Solution is a well-written, extraordinarily insightful book about an issue that all business owners must face at one point or another in their lifetime. Brad has incredible insight both as an advisor and business owner into this complex and important topic. Some would consider the issue of succession as the most important item a business owner must address. Brad provides an easy-to-follow road map, replete with real examples, as how how to tackle this important issue.

A must-listen for business owners
Brad has a way of breaking down the complex and messy subject of succession planning into a straightforward process that only requires a few days a year for a few hours a day. This process makes it so much simpler to create a succession plan that yields powerful and lasting results without spending endless hours pouring over it. I think that's something every business owner wants!
