Publisher's summary

Deep down in our core we know that if God is truly sovereign, then we have to face the truth that things happened to us that hurt us and He didn't stop it.

John Enslow, The Sovereign Touch

In The Sovereign Touch, John Enslow unflinchingly tackles the hardest question any Christian will ever be asked: What role does God play in our pain and suffering? This question is asked in many different ways, but the root issue is always the same. Is God a truly sovereign God?

The Sovereign Touch is a powerful blend of Scripture and personal testimony that encourages the listener to grapple honestly with a hard truth that can no more easily be ignored than the God Who authored it. With courage and compassion, Enslow addresses personal pain, the suffering of those we love, a broken world full of agony, and the universe beyond that. And through it all, our mysterious Father God is revealed as intimately involved with the life and soul of the creation He loves so dear.

Discover for yourself what The Sovereign Touch makes so clear: God is either sovereign over all, or He isn't sovereign at all!

His life is a testament of his faith

The author says it so great at the beginning. He says that there really doesn't need to be a declaration of his faith--that his life his a declaration.

Uplifting to the Soul

The Sovereign Touch by John Enslow is a raw and unflinching exploration of one of Christianity's most challenging questions: How can a loving, all-powerful God allow suffering? Enslow doesn't shy away from the pain, the anger, or the doubt that often accompanies this question. With a blend of Scripture and personal testimony, he invites readers to confront the harsh reality that even those we love dearly experience heartbreak, and God, in His sovereignty, permits it. Yet, Enslow doesn't leave us in despair. Instead, he offers a poignant portrait of a God deeply involved in His creation, a God who is both intimately acquainted with our suffering and ultimately in control. This book is a challenging, yet ultimately comforting, exploration of the depths of God's love and power.

Well-narrated

This audiobook has a good, clear-voiced narrator and a good continuous grapple based around this question. I do find these debates hard to understand and find some of it baffling and non-sensical. However, it's a comforting thing to know that a good spiritual life doesn't mean you have to be perfect and our suffering doesn't mean God doesn't love us. Questioning whether God exists or is Sovereign because we suffer is a central part of many people's decision to have faith or not and I think this book is good in the way it tackles that head on.

refreshing and enlightening

I've been a servant for many many years and I've been reading all kinds of related books. This one is particularly refreshing and enlightening and I really enjoyed my time listening to it. The narration is also very enjoyable, it's soothing and enlightening as well. Some of the things the author taught in this book is also quite inspirational. I must say, one way to interpret it is as the author said, he is either sovereign over all or isn't sovereign at all. On the other side, we must be dedicated as well to be able to hear the calling.
