About this listen
“In the end, only three things matter. How much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.” (Unknown)
It was a big lie. The biggest lie she’d ever told. It reverberated through her head as she said it, ringing eerily, and the girl behind her eyes - the girl who knew the truth - screamed, and her scream echoed along with the lie.
“Are you in love with Noah, Mercedes?” Cora asked. “I mean . . . I know you love him. You’ve been friends forever. We all have. But are you in love with him?”
If it had been anyone else - anyone - Mercedes would have stuck out her chest, folded her skinny arms, and let her feelings be known. She would have claimed him. But it was Cora. Brave, beautiful, broken Cora, and Cora loved Noah too.
So Mercedes lied.
And with that lie, she lost him. With that lie, she sealed her fate.
She was the best friend, the bridesmaid, the godmother, the glue. She was there for the good times and the bad, the ups and the downs, the biggest moments and the smallest parts. And she was there when it all came crashing down.
This is the tale of the girl who didn’t get the guy.

And when Benny writes a hit song and performs it with her, their collaboration thrusts the duo onto the national stage…and stirs up old issues and new scrutiny that the mob--and Benny--would rather avoid.

Pine River was supposed to be a new start for me. And it was, especially attending school with my three overprotective cousins, who were the triplets at the top of the social hierarchy. Except they weren’t alone there, and the first day when I came to school, I saw him. Scout Raiden. Tall. Lean. Tattooed. Mesmerizing. He was a golden god with dark and piercing eyes—looking like he wanted to eat me up. The feeling was mutual, and that was a problem.

The Smallest Pari
Most enjoyable story of three best friends who were The Three Amigos. Through the years, their friendship remained . How their story unfolds is a riveting drama of love, forgiveness, and unselfishness. The audio only added to the delight.

Good but not great
I love Amy Harmon and have been almost exclusively reading her lately. This one was good, but just not great. It was a bit slow and there was a bit too much back and forth from characters I felt. Overall good story though.

Good story
I loved the story line and how it connected with Amy Harmon’s book Moses. A like slow in the begging but stick with it there’s a lot of twists and turns and great story.

Story Line and Characters are Enchanting
Each time I read an Amy Harmon book I think that I can’t love a character as much as the characters I would’ve just been introduced to. Then I read another and am proven wrong.

A MAGICAL, SWEET, SIMPLE, YET COMPLICATED STORY OF THREE BEST FRIENDS THAT MAKE THEIR TRUE LOVE LAST FOREVER…
I wasn’t sure until about two chapters in whether I was going to like this book or not, but as it turns out, it KNOCKED MY SOCKS OFF! I couldn’t turn the book off! I lugged my phone everywhere I went in the house and finished it in one day it was so good!
It’s the sweet story of three young friends who meet at the age of six — Cora, Mercedes, and Noah. Through all the years they are growing up, they are each other’s sounding boards, security blankets and defenders against the world.
In their early 20’s Cora and Noah fall in love with each other. Throughout their friendship, Cora who has had to grow up in a very small family and without a dad, has always wanted what Mercedes wanted, including Mercedes’ loud, large, close knit family. On some level, Cora knows Mercedes is in love with Noah as well, and decides Noah will be hers, just because she can easily take him from Mercedes. Being the good friend she is, Mercedes steps back, supports Cora and Noah and puts all her secret romantic feelings for Noah away — because that’s what friends do.
Soon after Cora and Noah are married, Noah is deployed to the Middle East with the Air Force. Cora discovers she’s pregnant and she’s scared, but Mercedes is there for her every step of the way — because that’s what friends do.
Soon after baby Gia’s birth, Noah, now a fully trained therapist comes home to resume being a husband, new father and best friend. Within a very short period of time, Noah’s mom suddenly dies and Mercedes loses her dad, to whom she’s very close.
Then something really tragic happens that will stretch their friendship to the limits. Something that causes them to question themselves, each other, their friendship and the trust they’ve always shared. They all share their own guilt for what happens and have to work their way through it.
Along the way and throughout the book, there are two very interesting characters that Noah, in his capacity as a therapist meets and works with. But these
two people seem to know things about what happened. They seem to have a “power” to know and see things no one else can see. The things they see and know sheds light on the tragedy, but the only way they are able to share what they know is to share it through their mental illness, which makes it difficult for Noah and others to understand. In their illness, these two men are actually very gifted — almost geniuses in what they can see and do.
So much happens, but I don’t want to say more and give away too much.
Don’t miss this book! I will be thinking about it for a very long time and I believe it will stay with other readers as well. It’s worth every penny I paid for it. It was so good I am going to immediately read it a second time before I start anything else.
The narrator of this novel is fantastic. Ms. Guarra and Ms. Harmon are perfect together!

My favorite Amy Harmon story so far
It was just everything I want in a love story. My only complaint is, there could’ve been one more “small part” in the epilogue…
